Been offered one of these pretty cheap 2nd hand but it has a wonky hdmi cable. Oculus want £50 for a replacement if they wont do it under warranty so im still kinda hesitant to buy. Read that they want logs from a vr ready pc and so on before replacing one. i mean a wonky cable is pretty easy to diagnose you should just have to send it in.

I think the bottom line with VR, is only when games are specifically written with the limitations of VR in mind does it work well. You can't just slap VR onto an game with high fidelity graphics and expect awesome visuals, because it will just turn into a pixellated mess.
Simple, well defined visuals make VR a far better experience. Until the resolution is there to actually show distant objects with no pixel mushing, games should be designed to reduce that issue in some manner - Eve Valkyrie does it very well, where as Elite Dangerous simply doesn't.
Even Assetto Corse and PCars, awesome as they are in VR, still fade into a puddle of pixels at distance.

honestly visuals don't matter if the game sucks you in.
Robo Recall is not the prettiest game I ever played... but it is so much fun.
Like... that's all I play at the office.

The graphics are quite good though, atleast for being a VR game. I wish they had made a proper followup on Bullet Train though since I do prefer fighting with other humans.
shitloads of new stuff in my pc. Cant keep track of it all.

For some reason i couldn't start it the last time i tried it (steam), but my short (1h) impression was that it was quite good for this type of simplistic game. I'd probably wait for a sale, it's not an essential VR title, unless you are really crawing for that type of game.

Ok, what am I doing wrong here?
I set up the hardware, everything says big green 'OK's, the play area is 'moderate', finished that quaint little robot tutorial for the Touch, and now I have the Oculus software running on my desktop, I allowed 'unknown sources' in the options, but no games seem to recognise it (even though SteamVR says Oculus is supported, and I followed the instructions they directed me to, it still gives me the 108 error).
I read that if it's running, Subnautica should simply detect the headset and automatically go into VR mode, but nope. The headset just sits in Oculus Home while the game(s) run merrily on my monitor.
Same for Elite.
Same for War Thunder.
I'm obviously missing something, so any help would be most appreciated.

Ok...
So I had to copy over the sensor drivers from the Oculus folder to the SteamVR folder to make it recognise the Rift. So one problem solved, even if it was fiddly. Let's see how the rest goes...

Ok, that seem to have fixed almost all steamVR issues, and now I can play them through that, so that's something.
Subnautica is breathtaking, but also extremely nauseating. Might give it another go with m+kb because the smooth turning with the controller just makes me wanna hurl.
House of the Dying Sun was pretty cool tho.

Ya you cant play arma3 in VR, it has a weird cinema mode thing that you watch someone play on the main rig. There are people trying to mod in support but given how terrible that engine performs i dont think it will ever work.

It's really good. Probably the best VR, no definitely the best VR game to date.
Taking my time playing this one.
