There is wordpad. NFOs do not show correctly in notepad anyway

Notepad and even Wordpad, wtf.
Notepad++ is one of the few must-have third party tools for daily usage. IMHO.

Meh, no need anymore for special NFO-reader. N++ does it just fine.
Or is it missing any special feature? At least me am just looking at NFOs for several seconds before installation, then never again.

Many years ago i had one installed. But like i wrote, its useless now for me.

na not really, i just like the smaller window better for nfos (or if you want some gay green display of it etc). you most likely used the damn nfo viewer ages ago, but infekt superseded it

I also used (or use?) wordpad for nfos. Going by the images on the infekt page, it barely uses more space, if any. Just deactivate word wrap, ruler, status bar and minimize the ribbon.

This is a silly move, there is no other way to put it. Removing such a completely harmless and surprisingly useful program (although MS Paint is more than that, it's almost an institution) doesn't make much sense, no sensible company would do this. I have all sorts of goodies installed, but I still use Paint for simple tasks that don't require image quality, it's so quick and handy. Razz

...but then again, we're talking about Microsoft, they're about as sensible as a block of concrete xD

btw those "news" are wrong

paint will be removed as standard application and will be replaced with paint 3d. but the classic paint still will be available via the windows store soon (and as i said: you can just copy over the exe from older windows versions too)

Microsoft "want to treat PC like a first-class citizen" - do they mean it this time?
Quote:
For PC gamers - especially those of us lucky enough to have been gaming in the ‘90s - Microsoft’s real headline at E3 wasn’t the new Xbox, but the announcement that the original Age of Empires is getting a comprehensive remaster.

“We want to treat PC like a first-class citizen,” Adam Isgreen, creative director at Microsoft Studios Publishing and the man in charge of the project, says. “That’s really important to us.” The attention to detail that’s being lavished on the remaster backs his words with action: it’s getting 4K UHD visuals, new zoom levels, rebalanced gameplay (to go with the Xbox Live multiplayer), and a remastered orchestral soundtrack. They’re even fixing historical inaccuracies in the in-game encyclopedia - “there is no such thing as a Nile alligator, but there is a Nile crocodile,” says Isgreen.

It’s very exciting for PC gamers of a certain age, and it’s all ours: “Age of Empires is a PC game. It’s not on console,” says Isgreen. “We’re not planning on putting it on console. It’s something we really want for PC players, and you might see more titles like that in the future from us.”

Indeed, Unangst says this decision is but the first step in a plan to look back at Microsoft’s portfolio and think “‘What are the things we want to play as PC gamers ourselves?’ We can modernise those. We’re going to go from here. Age of Empires is the beginning of all that… making sure the IP we build is for PC gamers.”

Yes, why not? The less exclusives there are - the better. To me it's the biggest problem with gaming Smile
