Looking around he was the only one with that bug, seems a bit strange
there are some other reported bugs though but nothing as serious.

for a game where the developer raved about their efforts in character animation and facial nuance.. theres always been something suuuper weird about her mouth. A lot of other stuff looks great, but her open guppy-mouthed pose that im seeing far too much of, looks so damn wrong... really unnatural.

The intro was like 10+ minutes long Very Happy when she was sailing on her little boat.

Anyways, I like it so far.. The combat is rather simplistic and I don't quite like how limited our character control is.We can't jump, we can't get past the smallest obstacles etc..feels like we got on a train and it just goes forward letting us only some minor "exploration" here and there in search for lore stones

PS if you have problems switching languages then edit this file

:\Users\XXXXXX\AppData\Local\HellbladeGame\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor\Engine.ini

[Internationalization]
Culture=en_US

GOG version has an .exe file "language_setup" but it changes only admin user config files, so if you don't run the game in admin mode then you need to make changes in non-admin config files too.

far as im concerned, its more walking simulator than action game, and since i love walking sims im fine with that. its about a woman having her monthly 'woman troubles'.. and we're along for the ride.

im a bit sad that the first thing i did was try and walk out into the ocean and walked into an invisible wall which was a bit of a shame. at least build your game zone walls out of set design bits and pieces, come on Sad

Though I would try just reducing the amount via the r.scenecolorfringe.max 0 cvar instead. Smile

I've just killed the first boss. The fire dude Very Happy It was a pretty nice fight, but not really challenging. I still liked it though.

The setting and atmosphere are great

@Pey

I might be mistaken (I haven't watched the whole video) but you didn't seem to use bullet time when fighting mobs and the boss. I dunno what triggers it, I suppose if u manage to hit ur enemy for X times in a row, but when it gets triggered, the game shows a blue circle or something on your left side, you press focus fast, and then you can go all Max Payne on them mobs Laughing It's pretty useful when fighting several opponents or bosses

i wont be able to decide how i feel about it until im finished, because i need to see how this all ties together before i can say how effective it was at its message. at the moment its like i get glimpses of something really cool, but at times it feels a bit disjointed? like i said, will wait before i decide.

one thing i can say, is i wish theyd spent more time on the combat. I know its primarily a walking simulator game, but if youre going to build the game around at least 2 major bossfights, i wish the fighting was something a bit more.... involved? interesting? dynamic? something?? but its really just button mashing and dodging, with the occasional block and bullettime mode.

at least give me some interesting combos to pull off that have different effects. I know theres a kinda block/stun/parry/reversal thing, but the combat doesnt feel tight enough for me to feel i can rely on it.

Hmm... reading on the Steam forums:

• negative mouse acceleration
• can't change FOV
• no mouse sensitivity setting

Please tell me this isn't true...

Here's Hellblade in a nutshell:

Walk for 5 minutes
Focus on something to get a narration of lore
Walk for another 5 minutes
Get to a puzzle shrine that shows a shape you need to find in the environment
Spend 15 minutes wondering around finding said shape
Repeat
Repeat
Combat section that requires the dexterity of a worm
Return back to walking section and repeat over and over and over and over again

This seems to be pretty accurate Very Happy

Although the part "shows a shape you need to find in the environment" (pre first boss/first boss location) gets replaced with "find a place where you can align your sign with spiritual ravens around to open a door". I reckon after the second boss(I've just pwned him) it's gonna be something else.

Keep in mind that a port with three options available in the graphics menu like Enslaved had, but everything tweakable from the ini files is not a bad port. Its the access to those options that could be better, but they're there. Dont know if its the case here, but bad port isnt as clear cut as it may apear

The devs'd better release a magic performance optimization patch...

I've just got to this area

 Spoiler:

And fps drops to 35-40+ fps (it depends on what you are looking at) @1920x1200 maxed out.

It gets pretty bad(25 fps) further away& GPU usage gets really low for some reason

 Spoiler:

Changing settings doesn't seem to affect performance at all there

And I can't say that the game looks amazing: blurry textures here and there, the character model is not very detailed, and overall it looks kinda rough (mostly the previous locations, this new one looks better)

Yeah a lot of people are reporting the same on steam.
Something is wrong with the CPU utilization in this area it's way too high that's why the gpu utilization is so low, it creates a bottleneck, maybe a broken script or something like that clogging up cpu time.

Shitty gameplay elements certainly ruined this. Would be perfectly fine without combat or spending 20 minutes looking for shapes.
