watched guardians 2
i understand the criticism... it feels like a movie that needed editing, and a more cohesive first half of the film. It had plenty of jokes and i certainly had plenty of laughs.. but sometimes they didnt seem to realise when theyd taken the jokes too far and it had become tiresome. Drax in general, really annoyed me quite a bit. I loved him in the first one, but they pushed him way too far in this film and he just became one-note... and honestly, kinda fucking annoying. Did he even do anything in this film apart from act like a dick? I dont think he even kicked any ass in this. In general i think they didnt know when enough was enough in ANYTHING. Some scenes would have been so much better if they were punchier, but by drawing them out they lose the weight and excitement they had built.
i also think the film didnt really deliver in memorable sequences, and while the end of the final battle was pretty cool - it never had the same fuck-yeah feeling of the first film. I liked the ending, but again, i feel they dragged it out a little too long Spoiler: | (if they would have rounded off the funeral bit after stallone said his bit, instead of continuing with him doing the chest thump salute, and then seeing another 2 of those sequences with well known actors, it would have been SUCH a better and more powerful ending) |
so yeah. a pretty good film - enjoyed it, but sadly not as memorable or as 'epically satisfying' as i was hoping - ill probably forget most of it pretty quickly. A step down from the original film, but not without its charms.
oh, and mothers mix tape vol. 2, sorry, not as 'awesome' as the original tape. Not even close.

Guardians 2 7/10
Pretty forgetful movie, I thought, and not even close to the first one. Still entertaining though, but after the opening credits you've seen the best part
As mentioned by others, a lot of the jokes and bantering felt forced and uninspired (worst example, I thought, was the escape through the quantum asteroid field). Typical Marvel shit that really sucked out any possible tension.
Drax was shamefully underused, while he was one of the best elements of the first movie.
Ending the movie with
Spoiler: | the funeral of an unlikeable side-character |
didn't really make me crave for another sequel.

@Il_Padrino
im ready to concede a lot to the criticism people have about GotG2, but i will never agree that yondu is unlikable, I think he rocked! He was one of the best things about both movies, and i think his development was wonderful in this film.. shit.. i think id go as far as saying it was probably the best part of the movie - it certainly felt the most natural and interesting aspect.
Spoiler: | and i also reeallly disagree that his funeral was a bad way to end the movie - again, it was probably the highlight and one of the few moments the movie managed to convey actual emotion. Its just a pity they overdid it a bit. |

Guardians of the Galaxy 2 - 7.5/10
Bit hit and miss but mostly a hit for me. Lots of fun scenes and entertaining lines. Kurt Russel is a boss. Bout as good as the first but with a less shitty final act.
Training Day - 8.5/10
What to say? It's great and hasn't even aged badly. I miss these kind of tight small scale scripts that don't waste your time. Has a good flow throughout. I swear every movie I watch these days feels like it drags on. TIGHTEN THAT SHIT UP!

They basically just need another movie where Denzel is talking non-stop and it won't be boring.

Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol.2 - 4/10.
Good opening credits scene, goes downhill from there. Forced humour that rarely hits, frankly dull first hour with the only saving grace being Kurt Russel. Possibly my least favourite Marvel movie.

Guardians of the Galaxy 2: It's not ripe/10
When the first movie came out, it caught me unprepared in a very positive way, it was the kind of Marvel superhero movie that...didn't feel like a Marvel superhero movie, had heart and a genuine sense of novelty (something almost unknown till that moment ), so my expectations for this one were higher than the usual zero.
Sadly, it happened what I feared it would happen, they doubled down on the juvenile jokes (few moments of fun and a lot of cringe instead) with a flashier style overall losing the nice balance between humour and credibility, they...Marvelized it. It can still be a somewhat enjoyable summer watch, and the action scenes are objectively well-made, but Planet Brilliance is many many galaxies away. ~6/10

GotG 2 5/10 I thought I'm the only one or there's something wrong with me these days since it took me like three days to see the movie since I was falling asleep on it.

Guardians of the galaxy 2 - 4/10
Well they went and fucked up what little they had. The typical Hollyboo treatment of not knowing less is sometimes better.
Most of the characters became unlikeable because they tried too hard, the humour was too childish this time around.
The music was pale, didn't have the impact as it had in the first one... some to do with it being reduced as meaningless filler.
The Ego moment was when I just tuned out, convoluted crap with 1 hour boss fight...
Also a genuine fuck you for... cutting dat Fleetwood Mac short not once but twice!
I just wanted more of the first, fucking about in the universe with a light heart... not the forced down emotions for toddlers we got in this one.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 - 6/10
What a mess.
TWIN PEAKS is "something of a miracle."
"...like nothing else on television."
"a phenomenon."
"A tangled tale of sex, violence, power, junk food..."
"Like Nothing On Earth"

Spider-Man: Homecoming - 7/10
Action was solid enough.
Spidey was great.
Karen was great.
Humour was great.
Vulture was really great.
BUT
School drama wasn't.
And there was way, way, waaaaay too much of it (the almost universally hated Amazing Spider-Man balanced it a lot better, IMO)
And Stark/RDJ looks burned out as fuck.
And supporting cast was pretty weak. May, for example, could just as well not be in the movie at all and it wouldn't change much. The fat bro, on the other hand, seemed like a really shallow comic-relief and nothing more, and same goes for the lassy Parker was constantly oggling - except, obviously, for the fact, that she was meant for... well, let's just say a different kind of relief .
Also, while I didn't want yet another origin story Spider-Man movie, not mentioning (or even including, since for the time being we can't be sure if it's part of MCU canon) the whole drama with Ben at all felt kinda wrong somehow. This is the movie that was supposed to set Spidey up as his own, separate character. I don't feel it did a particularly good job at that. We know how Rogers became supah soldah. We know where Iron Man came from. We know what makes Thor, well, Thor. We know how Strange became even stranger. Hell, even Hulk got a flashback scene at the beginning and some background dialogue explaining what happened. All Spider-Man got was a one-liner about being bitten by weird spiders.

Alien: Covenant - 8/10
Visually stunning, Ridley for sure knows how to please eye, love this kind of shit, now we need to wait another 5 years to get another one.
Mummy - 7/10

Netflix trolled me. It kept pushing the movie "Left Behind" in my face, giving it a 98% recommendation. Took me an hour before I found out it's a shitty Christian propaganda movie. I googled it only to discover what horrible ratings it's been getting. Thanks Netflix for ruining 1 hour of my life on this crap
1/10

Valerian and the City of a Thousand Harry Potter in Space Planets - 4/10
This one had incredible CGI - but what a PoS movie it is..one of the worst scripts ive ever experienced with shitty lines and characters. The only reason I give it 4 is cos of the amazing (well, most of the time anyway) CGI.
shitloads of new stuff in my pc. Cant keep track of it all.

Wakefield - 7/10
An uneventful but curious and surprisingly thoughtful movie, with the usual good performance from Cranston, here playing Voyeur White. The script is basic (perhaps too much) and doesn't strive for realism, but the direction is solid enough to keep the narrative interesting.

the wall.
not entirely sure if its a film that was really only worth of being a 30 minute short-film, or a good idea that was only half-baked.
it starts out interestingly enough, then kinda goes nowhere for a large chunk of time up until the last third, where it then becomes interesting again. The ending, while predictable, was pretty cool.

Documentary...Missing 411. 8/10
Deals with people vanishing in National Parks...in most cases children. There has been a lot of controversy with the kick starter not living up to what it promised...mainly distribution issues. The subject matter itself, at times, is truly mysterious and left me scratching my head to how these children ended up where they did. Animal attacks are the obvious culprit but that doesn't always hold water when one looks at the evidence.
"During our investigation, we requested a list of missing people from the National Park Service. They told us no such list exists and to deliver one would cost 1.4 million dollars."

Thanks to Netflix being shit, it kept recommending me the same two movies: Left Behind & Stasis.
Stasis feels like it was written by 12 year olds - interesting premise but really badly executed with tons of flaws, terrible acting, etc. 3/10
Left Behind: it took me an hour to realize this was one of those crappy Christian movies despite the so called disaster movie plot line. 1/10
