Definitely PCSX2 runs the game perfectly fine. |
Indeed, the last time I did some testing I was surprised by how well it ran. MGS3 Subsistence runs fine too now, so only one is left to complete our main "ghetto" Collection.
Any other reasonable company would have thought about releasing the official complete one on PC, but then again we're talking about pachinkonami.
When it comes to MGS2 (PC, no emu), this is possibly the best way to play it: https://github.com/VFansss/mgs2-v-s-fix/wiki , even though I reckon there are still some minor issues left and whatnot.

I've seen actors more convincing reading straight from a script
But I guess that's why it fits so well in these games

FINALLY there is a good chance this shit will be properly fixed on PC. And not because Konami/whoever decided to give a shit about it, but because both source code AYUND all assets were leaked on 4chan:

https://x.com/MGSMGN/status/2050398875324920292
| Quote: | If you haven’t seen today’s news, it’s rocked the modding community in a big way.
Earlier today Lance McDonald shared on X, “The entire source code and all assets for Metal Gear Solid 2 HD just leaked on 4chan,” likely tied to Armature Studio’s work on the Vita port.
And this goes far beyond just the HD version.
Our own MGN moderator and modder, @Afevis
, whose contributions to the MGS2 and MGS3 modding scene speak for themselves (MGSHDFix) shared some early insight:
“It’s not just the HD versions in the dump, it’s the full source code for the PS2 / Xbox / PC versions, everything up to Vita. The original E3 trailer script files are here. The cut Tanker water-escape sequence. 9/11 censored scripting. Internal file editors & tooling, etc.”
When asked if there were more assets from the pre-9/11 build, he added:
“It does. At a brief glance, Arsenal Gear -> Manhattan crash stuff was censored by simply commenting out code. Likewise, there’s E3 / Demo assets. HD version was definitely made from OG source, not 100% reverse engineered as people misinterpret from old Bluepoint Games interviews.”
Modders are still digging through everything, but the implications are massive. This could mean restoring cut content, uncovering unseen material, and gaining a much deeper understanding of how the game was built.
On top of that, it gives the community more tools to preserve and refine these games going forward.
If even part of this holds true, this is a huge unexpected moment for the scene.
More to come! |
