Well, I'll give XR one more try, but I'm not exactly hopeful they managed to fix the most glaring issues since launch. This will pretty much decide if I'd even pirate X"4", since in order to convince me to buy it, old fans would have to give out GLOWING reviews, which is already unlikely.
But I like the rest of what I've seen. I don't mind it being Rebirth as the foundation, as long as they addressed the issues that were a step back from X3. Ie. 1 playable ship, copy and paste stations interiors, HAVING to leave ship to do the most common and mundane actions in a X game, etc.
So at least all ships are flyable. The new map looks good. But what about the depth of things you could do in X3? Owning a sector and building an industrial empire that could supply your fleet for warfare? Both of the above was very weak in Rebirth, and even more so since it lacked the mods of X3.

The 1 Ship shenanigans seem to be addressed already, as for the rest, after a little re-trying of Stillbirth, there seem to be an option now to remote-trade with vendors on stations, sending off wares in little capsules or something after finalising the transaction.
There seem to be quite a bit of improvement, but the fundamentals of the game are still far removed from what made the X games great. I think I'll hazard an ISODemo of X4, but a purchase is highly unlikely.
I like the announced features/improvements such as proper management, supply-based economy, NPC overhaul, the fly what the hell you want approach and so on, but knowing that there's still some Rebirth beneath X4 doesn't make me feel comfortable at all
Will try to give 'em the benefit of the doubt, but I just can't be excited anymore these days, the usual familiar sensation of fighting mistrust. There's a ton of curiosity involved though, that's for sure!

Yeah that's me. I was brimming with excitement for X:Rebirth even knowing it had a single ship, i thought the game was going to have immense detail and depth (you know.. a trade off of features) but none of it was justified. X:R was just garbage to me and that fear is definitely carried to X4.
I suspect the X community knows more about what makes the X series good, rather than the developers themselves.. bring on another shit game with a retarded xml scripting language no one in their right mind is going to mod.

These days, my doubt levels far exceed any possible benefit I have left

#X4Foundations release date announcement, trailer video and gameplay explanation video all coming on Monday 12:00 CEST.
Sorry that we did not make it this week, but we wanted to test our shiny new forum over the weekend before stressing it to the maximum on Monday.
Watched the alpha build on youtube another day and they clearly directing the game to a wrong side. AGAIN. We don't need to walk inside ships, we don't need to land on a shiny landing squares, we don't need to build massive stations mindlesly and manually. We don't need 2000ish graphics. Those features are just waste of their time and potential.
I wonder why they are not hiring dudes like Litcube (creator of Litcube universe mod), Wannabe, Joubarbe, memeics and etc which created 10x or even 100x times better modded and optimised game than it was albion prelude. Those guys know more about creating deep and engaging universe than whole egosoft team altogether. Nowadays developers are too ignorant or too dumb not to listen what playerbase has to say and to offer.
I really want X4 to succeed after x: rebirth flop, but from the first looks it doesn't look too promising.
Yeah I wish they'd just stop trying with the walking around stations and having NPCs walk around and shit. They have neither the skills nor the budget for that.
Focus on the stuff that matters, what made X3 great but improve on and polish that...
Let me pay traders to trade for me, let me buy and build stations to manufacture and refine stuff, then let me participate in massive fleet battles for control over sectors in a dynamic galactic war as the endgame. It's all I ever wanted.
Egosoft is so misguided..
Likot Mosuskekim, Woodcutter cancels Sleep: Interrupted by Elephant.
Absolute shite. Same 15 years old engine that looks just about terrible now, same cardboard explosions (in space ), same terrible walking animations, flickering shadows, flickering geometry, low polygon everything, low resolution textures. This is embarrassing.
