Had my ole 24" IPS from LG for roughly 5 years and after you guys pointed out just how small it was on my desk a couple months ago i finally pulled the trigger on a bigger one lol.

Excuse the shitty lighting. Also, the phone made the worn out spots on my mouse pad look worse than they really are lol.

Seems like a good monitor, good refresh rate too and IPS type instead of TN plus features like just G-Sync which is quite a upgrade from my understanding of it. Smile

I was also looking at this one but only found opinions about horrible backlight bleeding even if people exchange few times. Maybe new ones are better indeed or Au optronics got better. They manufacture all 144hz 1440p 27inch panels. Same exact panel is in all asus or acer ones so brand only comes down to osd, stand and price and that aoc is also my fav!

Make a photo with about 25% of brightness with black image.
And test for banding will ya?
Oh and gratz Very Happy

Yeah the ever present little glow effect as one of the downsides with IPS type panels, it's improved a bit and generally it's not too noticeable outside of pitch black color backgrounds but it's something to be aware of. Smile

And everyone's favorite dead and stuck pixel policy and the difference between the two and how happy the local store or manufacturing company is to handle it.
(Think more manufacturers are starting to use the 1 dead pixel deal so that helps.)

Glow is ok. No screen gets black except oled.
All ips have angle dependent glow.

But backlight bleeding from corners is manufacturing error and will be visible in games and movies and is visible no matter what angle. For some reason those 144hz ips panels have a lot of it. I dont get it... Cant they evenly stick led strips on borders

Congrats! At least you know what you want, unlike someone else here. Laughing Laughing
I might get a new 1440p monitor soon, sometimes. As my GTX 1080 feels a bit underused with 1080p only.

Also give me that bulky purse, which is probably filled with 100$ notes.

550 bucks sounds like a lot.

It's that the regular price or was it reduced?

It is one of the cheaper 144hz 1440p ips monitors with gsync. Others are about 700

lol after the monitor there's no money left in there Laughing

I've got a 1080 powering it, still getting over 100FPS in some games. I don't use AA in anything as I don't feel it ever really makes that much of a difference. Witcher 3 is getting about 75-95FPS depending on where I'm at and what I'm doing.

And that's my fill of irony for the weekend. The forum clown who only regurgitates what he reads everywhere else and uses quotes from his peers to pass off as knowing how anything works so he can fit in.

That's fine. I'd be upset too if I was always posting threads about wanting new hardware and needing help from everyone then pretending to know what everyone's saying but can't actually afford them so decides to go with the bottom of the list just to complain about the shortcomings later because saving for an extra month was too hard. Very Happy Not the first time he's tried trolling me, completely forgetting what his reputation here actually is.

Lets not talk about variance in IPS glow depending on the panel or anything.......

Unless you're sitting out in a moonless night with high brightness on the monitor you'll hardly ever have it effect you.

A smudge on a pair of perscription glasses is more annoying to deal with than the IPS glow of 2016/7 panels...........'

Yikes

Ya I wish I had an AMD gpu after seeing that g-sync adds like an extra 120ish to the price. Mine is also 165hz. So. There's the added price tag. G-Sync uses an actual module in the monitor itself instead of just relying strictly on drivers. I read there was a benefit for having an actual module but i don't remember what it was. I got tired of waiting for vega after they kept delaying it.

Still, paying the extra 100-150 over freesync still hurts lol

What GPU are you using to drive that 4K res?

lol people are only just now adopting 4K res and now they're going to do 8k? Who do they think has money to upgrade like like this. 4K made sense. The time in between 1080p, 1440p and then 4K was plenty of time. 4K just dropped what, last year?

4k is demanding enough as is what with Crossfire and SLI being a bit so-so in several games (SLI at least allows altering profiles a bit via third party utilities.) though the 1080Ti keeps up pretty well although above 60 FPS (120hz monitors for example.) might be a challenge without dropping some of that fancy shader stuff. Razz

4k and then 4x DSR for 7680x4320 certainly kills aliasing well enough though, framerate too unsurprisingly enough ha ha.
(Well some games handle it better, even for newer titles in some cases.)

Of course that one port that caps out at 1920x1080 @ 30 FPS isn't going to be any fun and the devs probably have no idea why people would want it improved either heh.
(Well I guess there's always windowed mode whenever some third party utility isn't available that does the devs work for them.)

I am still on my 970... I might consider to upgrade but not this year, Maby witrh new gen of GPUs..

For games, I mostly playing on 1440p and newest one on 1080p is enough for now and I don't think on this size u don't see that much of different then full fledged 4k..

Colors are great, refresh rate is amazing, no dead/stuck pixels, now yellowing like some did. One of the best stands I've seen come with a monitor.

Got it on sale for 550 bucks. Was about to drop 700-800 on either an Acer Predator or the ViewSonic variant.

haha ya, I scored it on Craigslist, so many manufactures of desks I'm not even sure who made it.

Here's the full view of it.

I'm actually designing a circle table top part that goes onto the top of the current circle but it's going to spin.

Going to mount it with this

http://www.rockler.com/low-profile-lazy-susans

and put some ball bearings around the edges to help balance it.

https://www.google.com/search?q=low+profile+ball+bearing+casters&source=lnms&tbm=shop&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwju4dnshr7VAhXG64MKHZWVBbYQ_AUICigB&biw=1269&bih=923

As far as googling for the desk, all I've been able to find is that it's a "p shape desk" but for a corner. So p shape corner desk? That's the best I've been able to do for googling on it. I've looked before because another friend wanted the same desk.

Added a pop up power bay that I got from work since it was used for a NASA project we were doing and didn't need it anymore. Fuckers cost like 250ish bucks since they're UL certified Very Happy
