|
 |
Quote: | Hellboy, the demonic comic book hero turned Guillermo del Toro film franchise, is poised to return to the big screen, this time without the filmmaker at the helm.
Millennium is in negotiations with producers Larry Gordon and Lloyd Levin for a new installment that would reboot and relaunch the property. Mike Richardson of Dark Horse Entertainment is also producing.
Neil Marshall, the horror director who broke out with The Descent and won raves for his work on Game of Thrones, is in talks to direct the project, which has a working title of Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen and has a script by Andrew Cosby, Christopher Golden and Hellboy creator Mike Mignola.
Del Toro is not involved, nor is Ron Perlman, the actor who inhabited the red-skinned, cigar-chomping devil in the two previous installments.
Rather, David Harbour, the Stranger Things star, is in talks to play Hellboy. |
I liked Del Toro's Hellboy and Perlman is the Big Red for life but I wish for something closer to the comic book and not the Kids of Hellboy Ron was pushing. So let's wait and see.

Pity. I like the r rating, but del toro and perlmans efforts show it's really not necessary for a thoroughly entertaining hellboy film.
Regardless, it'll suck not seeing perlmans hulking face and deep growlyface voice the next time we see hellboy...
I am, however, a big big fan of Marshall, so for that alone I am looking forward to this and hope he gets the job.

If they are going with Blood Queen than it will be a prologue to Hellboy in Hell (which was a bit meh) and Hell on Earth which was awesome but had weird conclusion.

Everyone is aware that's some random artist's rendition of how the character might look, and the artist has nothing to do with the film right?
TWIN PEAKS is "something of a miracle."
"...like nothing else on television."
"a phenomenon."
"A tangled tale of sex, violence, power, junk food..."
"Like Nothing On Earth"

Yep! If there really must be a Hellrebooy, I think he might be the right guy for the job here. The movie doesn't need any glossy oomphy AAA feel to it, on the contrary. Casting Ian McShane is never a bad thing either, I'm...curious (but not too much for the obvious reasons )

I would suggest that the character is going to be motion-capture driven but otherwise entirely CGI (a la Hulk), but given this is an R-rated film it's unlikely they have the budget to do for the title character, for the entire film, and make it look good, so I don't know.
Regardless the movie's official facebook page that I linked to is clear this is the "#FirstLook" and not something fan made, so we'll see what's going on.

Yeah, this looks like a promo shot with some bodybuilder instead of Harbour.

...i think people are always going to be a little unfair to whatever they come up with, since.. well.. ron perlman fucking nailed the job in his films, and ill always be comparing however the new hellboy looks to what i concider to be the most perfect man in all of existence
basically i cant judge it on its own worth...

Kim is Korean American not Japanese American
Expect backlash shortly. Well it's already there. Wait for it to explode.
