Blue Reflection, the new IP form Gust set in an all-girls high-school in modern day Japan, is coming physically and digitally to PlayStation 4 and to PC via Steam in North Amerca on September 26 and Europe on September 29, publisher Koei Tecmo announced.
Blue Reflection takes place at Hoshinomiya Girls’ High School, where players assume the role of student Hinako Shirai. When Hinako’s ballet career comes to an end after a tragic accident, she closes her heart off from the rest of the world. However, her life changes when she meets her new best friends, the magical Shijou twins – Yuzu, who is adored by her classmates for her cheerful and warm personality, and Lime, who is more logical and selfish.
The twin sisters bestow Hinako with the power of a Reflector, a champion who can manipulate a mysterious parallel dimension known as The Common. Hinako can freely move and shape this mystical realm’s beauty with her imagination, but she soon understands the very real perils that await her and her friends. As Hinako learns to treasure her companions and creates new bonds with those around her, she gains new strength to help her fight in The Common.
Gameplay is divided into two main settings – the school and the Other World. Each day will follow roughly the same formula, where you have the opportunity to bond with the other characters at school and you then decide what to do after school. This can be spending time with someone whose bond you want to increase, creating items, or going to the Other World.
The Other World is the fantasy setting where you face off against huge monsters as a magical girl. The contrast between the delicate art of the everyday scenes and these huge monsters is really something!
“Taking her first steps back into an everyday school life, Hinako is lost in a sea of unknown faces until she encounters a middle school friend, Sanae Nishida. Hinako notices a strange aura emerge from Sanae and suddenly awakens in a mysterious world where an intimidating demon awaits her! Before she has time to react, a pair of friendly voices reach out to her: “It will be alright. You can fight. Put your heart into the ring on your finger, and fight as a Reflector!” The magical twins Yuzu and Lime bestow Reflector powers on Hinako, promising her they will grant any wish she desires if she protects the world from devastating forces that seek to threaten humanity.
This is how Hinako learns of the mysterious parallel dimension, The Common: a place created by the unconsciousness of the human collective; where the causes of humans’ latent troubles lurk. Alongside Yuzu and Lime, she leaps fearlessly into this unknown world in search of crystallized emotion fragments – the physical manifestation of her classmates’ struggles – but encounters a myriad of challenges in her path. Players will explore unique and perilous locations in their attempt to locate these fragments and resolve their classmates’ problems in the real world, and will be called upon to battle dangerous demons who stand in their way!
While Hinako and her friends solve the problems plaguing Hoshinomiya Girls’ High School and live their day-to-day lives, devastating forces loom closer at each moment. These are the Sephira, gigantic creatures harboring overwhelming powers which threaten to end the world as the girls know it! In order to protect their classmates as well as humanity itself, Hinako, Yuzu and Lime transform into their magical Reflector forms and use their most powerful abilities by gathering the energy of emotions. By harnessing the close bonds they have formed, the Reflectors fight in hopes of repelling the Sephira forces once and for all.”

Huh a school uniform with visible crack, that's somewhat new ha ha.
Though from what I have heard of the console and handheld versions of the game GUST has been steadily pushing the fan service in their games to new levels. Well that bodes well for Nights of Azure 2 I guess heh.
Aside from that particular aspect the game seems to have gotten some good criticism too although some complaints as well such as I think overall length was a bit on the short side though the various bosses or what to call them are apparently a real highlight so that should be fun to see.
The fanservice in Blue Reflection must be mentioned. Gust went out of their way to develop state-of-the-art wet shirt technology and an odd penchant for girls getting caught out in the rain without an umbrella so that they're completely drenched.
Anyway sounds like Madoka Magica as a JRPG, i'm not too keen on the Magical Girl setting but i liked Madoka, the fan service does sound a bit creepy though considering the Girls seem to be a bit young, but it's Japan so whatever.
The game might have something of a resolution lock, thought it could just be worded to where it's similar to Atelier Firis where the 2d art was 1280x720 instead of the PS4's 1920x1080
Quote:
Dear Customer,
Thank you for your inquiry.
We prepare 2D images basically on the resolution of 1280*720 for BLUE REFLECTION Steam version, meanwhile 1920*1080 for PS4 version.
Therefore, if you play in the environment where the resolution is larger than 1280*720, the images are shown as stretched. We hope you will accept this.
We will consider conforming 2D images to a larger resolution, but cannot promise. We trust that you will understand our position in this matter.
We would like to close our correspondence for your inquiry.
EDIT: Yeah it has to be the 2D artwork and not the display res.
Other Koei ports have all supported up to 3840x2160 recently after all.
(And Warriors All Stars in particular has some really odd texture assets with a resolution of up to 8192x4096 for some details, seems overkill but eh it's all good I guess.)

Yeah it's just the 2d stuff like the Atelier games and it's not like i plan to pay for this anyway but still it's pretty stupid i mean they have the higher res assets and don't use them because?
It took what, four comments and then things got really, really out of control.
(AND IT JUST KEEPS GOING!)
(Well Koei will probably delete the entire thing in a short while or so whenever someone who can read English sees what some of the users are actually posting on that support page.)
EDIT: And then it devolved from racial insults into guro, loli and...naked old ladies.
The final fantasy XV armor looks OK I guess, splitting a swimsuit and towel pack and selling them for upwards of 20$ each is a bit hilarious though, though I guess a little tweak here and you can just Cream API the content as a alternate way to unlock it ha ha.
