Was your statement serious or just a joke?
If serious, then i don't think you know what most RPGs stand for.

No Bob you don't understand, choices and consequences, you can choose to act like an asshole and the consequences could be that it will piss off some ppl (or not depending on who you talk to) or you can act like goody two shoes like you seem to do and ppl will like it (or not depending on who you talk to) it's a simple enough concept, even works in RL just try it, no one forces you to take a choice.

I've been playing for some hours now and I am level four, either I chose the wrong difficulty (tactician) or I really forgot how to use this combat system. I think I've found every way to get out of Fort Joy. A question about the encounter in the prison.
Spoiler: | Am I supposed to be able to defeat the four magisters in the prison at level four? I can take out the main guy and a ranger, barely take out the second sword guy sometimes, but the last ranger rapes me with elemental arrows since my party is already crippled after taking out the first three. Is my party shit maybe? I've just been going for fun instead of min-maxing.
Ifan: Knight - Warafe + maybe poly later
Beast: Fighter - Warfare + geo
Sebille: Rogue
Lohse: Support - Hydro + Aero
Any tips, or do I just suck? |
How the hell do I get out without using a walktrough?

That's called decision and consequence bob and people have been complaining about the lack of it in RPGs for years now.

RPGs are about being able to do everything whenever you want without any consequences obviously. A sandbox of brainless morons, if you will.
Not about any kind of roleplaying elements or anything silly like that.

The houndmaster fight? Try using line of sight and the door to the cell to your advantage? Should be a fairly easy fight at level 4 or above.

Ranger is the way to go.
Anyway, there are multiple paths out of the fort.
Spoiler: | Did you save 'Atusa's leg' from the beginning. If you have that, and go ,down under the fort where the 'Torturer Kniles' is -> you can get out of the fort without serious fights by giving the leg to him (you can also do a persuasion check with him to get out for free, but I think it requires very high persuasion + main stat)
Alternatively, you 'could' escape by following the teleport quest -> you'll get to the magisters at the docks -> very tough fight also, but instead of fighting just... run through. There's a path down the docks to outside of fort.
OR you can try to get to the main gate by sneaking. If you fail, you'll have to fight 2 archers, 2 melee and 1 'boss', but you have a paladin friend who can take quite a bit of punishment (I didn't notice anything special from this even if you manage to save him)
Anyway, you should be able to get one more level from the fort. I'm usually level 5 before I break out - if you do everything, you'll be close to level 6 already)

Can respec right away? I guess I should've made my main character a ranger. I didn't save the leg, Sebille ate it.
I think I did everything in Fort Joy, but I'll run around once more. I really don't want to use a walkthrough when I first play an RPG.

You can respec in chapter 2 there is a mod which adds respec in chapter 1 but it makes all your character portraits black atm.

I think I'm going to restart, losing five hours of my life. Can anyone comment on this party before I fuck it up again? I really want to use these four chars, but I'm willing to change them I guess if they're a bad combo.
Spoiler: | Ifan: ranger
Beast: fighter/tank - warfare + geo. One-handed or two-handed?
Sebille: rogue
Lohse: support - hydro + aero (?) |
I'm not looking for min-maxing or most damage output. I chose these for their background stories and I always like a dwarf in my party.

I have almost the same party (also playing Ifan as my main as ranger), but have (as fire mage) Fane instead of Lohse, as I only use hydro for healing which I can use with another char.
I think I'm almost done with this game. I'm still on the first island, I think I have done everything but the final fight, but my game has become very unstable. Loading a save takes a lot of time and fast traveling sometimes locks and crashes the game, and sometimes the game closes out of itself. I'm going to see if it's related to the first island and it gets better on the second island, or I'm done with it.
The game is not nearly as fun as the first one, anyway, what a shame.
There must have been a door there in the wall, when I came in.
Truly gone fishing.

GOG isodemo. I read on the Steam & Larian forums that a lot of people had this issue, related to a memory leak and the game crashing when you fasttravel to the Fort town square (which happens for me as well). It cause seems to have to do with stealing a lot, especially from traders, which I have done as well.
Apparently, it screws up savegames so it might be persistant even if I leave the first island.

By the time I get to that point I'll be hours into the game. I don"t want to start figuring out my party after all those hours again. I assume getting off the island will still take a lot of time. If I get raped in the first serious fight, I'll probably be everyone's bitch |
If it's your first serious fight, maybe you just haven't got good enough gear/learned enough of the skills?

Your current party should be able to make it to the respec. Nothing really wrong with it. That party should be more balanced with 2x ranged, though.
Mine was(before branching out to 2nd/3rd/4th ones)
Polymorph - melee dual wield
Necro/Warfare - two-handers
Summoning/Necro(pure Summoning till 10) - Bone Widow with 10+ Summoning is just stupid
Hydro/Aero - started out as mostly support/CC, but she does very good AoE damage now on top of the CC/support

It happened to me before the first or second patch, but I assumed they fixed it since it hasn't happened since.

I'm playing at tactician atm. This isn't fun though. I'll respec my ifan to ranger when it's time, hopefully one tank, rogue, enchanter and ranger will do the trick.

I found this on Larians forums.
Quote: | I have some good description info for you as well as a question / warning to others.
Tested at level 19 (doubt it scales):
Eternal Artefact +
Helm = 2 Finesse, 1 Huntsman
Neck = 10% Fire Res, 2% Crit, 5% Dodging
Ring = 1 Scoundrel, 10% Poison Res
Chest = 10% Air Res
Gloves = 2 Con, 10% Earth Res
Belt = 1 Strength, 1 Warfare
Boots = 1 Thievery, +0.1 Movement
Pants = 10% Air, 1 Polymorph
Weapon (non-Staff, non-Wand) = +Air Damage
All items saw a VERY small increase in their physical armor (or magic armor for jewelry). Usually it was around 5%.
Warning! There are two types of Eternal Artefacts. They have different images, one has a value of 700g and a weight of 1.0. The other has a value of 350g and a weight of 0.4
The second one doesn't work for any of these, but it is showing up in the materials tab. I tried to combine them and such but I expect it's a bug on Larian's side. If it's not a bug and someone figures it out I would love to know, I have a lot! |
As well as this.
Quote: | Eternal artifact + eternal plate +metal scraps + source orbs = eternal armor
Immune to shock
Immune to stun
2 sockets
Huge physical armor
|
So it's another way to boost itemstats.

Just finished Act 1. 30 hours played according to steam (most of it is played, 3 hours afk maybe). I can't remember the last time I enjoyed an RPG this much (Gothic 1-2 maybe?).
My main Necro/geo is really weak though. Maybe it's a bad mix. Blood rain+ poison, and like 2 physical attacks. Feels really weak, and if I battle undeads he can't do shit.

The quest scripting was just hilariously broken at times, and the ending slideshow had statements that weren't true, contradicted other statements, or there were flat out several contradictory endings for the same characters or locations. It's like the unpatched Fallout 2 ending slides all over again.

I'm on Nameless Island in the Academy, where i have to decide which side i join:
Spoiler: | Covenant or not |
I googled a bit, but didn't really found anything about the impact of the decision you make.
Anyone is past that point and can comment on it?

Just get a 2hander and skill Warfare/2hander and you will destroy butts with ease.
At least my Fane does so.

Spoiler: | God King. Worst decision ever, don't do it. It will rule out one ending option atleast, maybe more. You will have more choises if you don't side with the God King. And you will only hear the God King once in the entire game I think so even more lame... |

Yea, i also asked on the forums and chosing to join them doesn't really seem worth it.
Though it might still make for a nice and emotional (from what i read) experience.
