well FEAR and SWBF2 sometimes run below 50fps with everything maxed under 2x7800gtx 256mb cards so dont know where you have been hiding?many more games will follow this.

hey running a game with no video help is a chore so to expect 30fps or something is asking a lot from your cpu. Having to calculate all the poly's, processes all the shaders, handle lighting .character animation and audio without help from a video card what can you expect? The system can't handle that many commands at a time no matter how your cpu is setup. That I admit is a stupid test until you start getting quad cores hammering at our doors and that wont be for another year (although they do make dual socket boards so you can have 2 dual core cpus.....)

Im getting 1992 marks (best one in 3 tests).
Although my system isn't the best im not going to spend an extra $1000 to get a decent score in 3dmark 2006.
3dmark 2007 will just tell me the same bullshit.
You wont even see all these special effects in games any time soon.
AMD64 3800+, Leadtek 6800 Ultra, 1GB Kingston HyperX RAM, SB Audigy 2Zs.

this and cod2 (which runs very good at low fps) are the only games right now where such a overpowered system makes sence. thats all. there will be no games the next month which needs this. . maybe in 9 , month when UT2007 get released , you can suggest to upgrade.

The battle of Proxycon - Return to Proxycon
The first level you'll all recognize very well. It now has an updated game engine which has improved scenery and judging from that scenery and movement point of view, a lot remained the same. Added however are some very complex features that enhance the scene quality.

Firefly forest
Again a part which all of you will recognize. This was also a SM 2.0 demo. There are a couple of differences though. First off added is again dynamic soft shadowing. Secondly, you'll notice a second firefly active in the scene to increase the GPU computational load. Rich vegetation with lot of trees and leaves moving. The vegetation has added diffuse detail, normal and normal maps. Have a good look at the directional moonlight generating CMS (cascaded shadow maps) with the sky being generated by a procedural light scattering shader.

Canyon Flight
Again, rich geometry, detail and complexities have been added. Just have a look at the HDR effects in this level, then notice the tremendous detail the ship, monster and and the face of the "captain" have. Simply incredible. That crewmen is using a new shadowing technique called the Strauss shading model, Strauss shader shades an object using the Strauss physical light model. This shader is very good at metallic looking highlights.

Deep Freeze
The focus for this level is all about Shader model 2 and 3. HDR in gigantic landscaping, amazing dynamic long soft shadows at daytime/nighttime scenarios, again the heterogeneous fog which is this time used for that beautiful snowstorm effect and the snowy surface uses a subsurface scattering effect. Since this again is an outdoor scene you'll notice only one light source, the sun with a good amount of HDR being utilized.

cod2 has a shity engine wich has nothing to do with hardware, thats why they left dx7 support

My score ---> 1337
Specs:
AMD Barton 2500+ on Gigabyte nForce2
Leadtek nVidia 6600GT AGP
1GB Kingmax Dual Channel
2x80GB WD + 160GB WD ATA HDDs
ForceWare 77.77 drivers, profile - performance
Everything on default, no OC.
Now, anybody can explain me why am I getting worse scores with newer drivers, like 81.98, than with the old ones? When I was on ATI cards, it happened only once that the new drivers were somehow worse than the old ones (caused my rig to reboot), but other than that, I remember that every month I updated my drivers I got a small boost in every benchmark I ran ( biggest boost beeing a 10% increase in 3dMark benchmarks). The worse case scenario was that the new drivers didn't improve scores, but to lower them??? Smth is not right here, why isn't nVidia making a "default" profile, it's only possible to select either a performance/high performance or a quality/high quality profile with the current drivers.

again thats your point of view. if you want everything maxed in every game then you can clearly see the difference between having and not having 7800gtx sli. im working on getting my 512mb sli which will be even smoother.

AMD64 (754) 3000+ @ 3200+
1.5GB DDR RAM at PC3200~
BFG 6800GT @ Stock
Not too bad; I'm sure I could get more if I OC but it's just not worth voiding the warranty for a benchmark *yawn*
fear the led zeppelin that was!
