Man, this game can be so tedious. I fought a level 37 with fast learner along with a few other annoying traits, and poison, and that along with the infinitely respawning enemies made the fight annoying rather than a fun challenge.

The nemesis system threw a level 25 legendary poison crossbow cunt named nabuk at me when I was level 3. 1 shot from his crossbow killed me. Fuck that guy I hunted him down and after dying 3 times to him was able to win. Was frustrating but fun at the same time. Then he comes back 10 minutes later WTF!? Cheesed the hell out of the shitty stealth system to eventually give him a final death.
Since then I've been pretty bored and annoyed at how the game plays. It's just very clunky. I think this game is only good when it's being unfair and making you mad enough to care about some dice rolled orc.
Then you can forget how the traversal is worse then AC and the combat is worse then Batman.
edit: after unlocking a bunch more stuff it gets more entertaining. I like just causing a whole bunch of nonsense from stealth and then jumping in and causing more chaos with summons and pets. Orcs and monsters flying everywhere... pretty fun. Don't think I'll finish it though it seems pretty repetitive.

ugh. i only just started, ive run up against 4 captains now, and i havent been able to control any of them. i cant grab them when theyre low on heatlh (they throw me off). holding b when theyre low on health does nothing and i get no prompts to dominate them or anything even when theyre one sword strike away from death. its been a while since i played the previous game, so what am i doing wrong.

You'll get it back later and can dominate then.
You cannot dominate at all during act 1.

Wait.. I don't remember needing the ring in the first game. I know the game did some half baked mention of ghoulyface putting all his powers into the ring, but that seems like a weak explanation to reset the character from the previous game, given that I still have wraith powers..
This nonsense upsets me
Cheers though.

Some of the orks quickly overwhelm you, which is nice, considering the character doesn't feel too powerful at the start. Some dudes are nasty af, resistant against nearly everything (vaulting, B-paralyze, arrow proof) and dealing heavy damage, crazy. The second area feels very much like a place you should run through (even though it gets a bit difficult when you meet the warchief in the pit, if they attack you together) and come back later. Back to the starting area now, feels far easier now with the low level guys until I get stronger.

If you don't use any lootboxes and don't grind much. Does the game get very hard?

Well that was a repetitive and way too long series of defense missions for that ending, but it's done now.
Game kinda falls apart at act 2 with the player having to go back and forth between these four locations doing small missions for various characters so there's no real focus or story until near the end as the game gets wrapped up.
Well messing around with the orc captains was fun, kinda hard to find decent high-level ones though both for recruitment and for loot and for upgrading your loot since that requires higher level orcs and usually dominating a specific type of them.
Will be interesting to see what they will do with the DLC.
SPOILERS.
Spoiler: |
Seriously Celebrity-Bimbo or whatever you r name was? You pulled a Sauron and got Isildur'd in exactly the same way and fucked it all up right at the end not to mention throwing Talion away for no real reason other than your bondage fantasy of dominating Sauron and that elf girl was all in that action, Galadriel must have a real dark side to her personality sending someone that fucked up over and it seemed this might have been planned all along ha ha.
And of course Cele-Bimbo just had to be squeezed in at the true end along with Talion as a somewhat-not-really LOTR tie in to what went on but at least they left the doors open to yet another sequel.

I think dominate came up early on in act 2 as you start building your own forces up, act 1 is a bit of a prologue setting up most of the game mechanics and guiding the player though it does still offer two rather large areas to sandbox in and spend hours messing with orcs and side activities.
Act 2 is mostly the rest of the game with act 3 serving as the ending (You'll get warned before you confirm if you want to proceed or not.) and act 4 is the special epilogue bit.
As for game length the game isn't actually that big but there's a lot of running back and forth and the game lets players spend hours in each zone setting up their orc captains and grinding for gear or just mess with the nemesis 2.0 system if they want.
EDIT: As for game length 15 hours is what I would estimate unless you go for 100% completion picking every little collectible and building your orc forces up.
25 - 30 hours if you're being more thorough, 3 - 4 hours is what it took to wrap up each of the four areas you can visit but the missions will send you back and forth between each zone several times and that last epilogue defense missions is 10 waves though thankfully without timer.
First four waves is hitting each area one time, next three waves require clearing two areas and then the two after that has you hit three areas each before finally at wave 10 you're fucking sick of it but the game has you hit each area one final time before it ends.
With enemy armies having a combined strength of over 500 so yeah, also when you capture fortresses it's four zones but when they attack they only have to take two zones and in addition to the regular six captain slots there's going to be a lot of lower-level captains in addition so even the first wave is pretty tough.
(Orcs seem to start around level 20 - 30 for this part and caps at 65 for the last waves, players level cap is 60 and most of the later defense waves will have multiple rare and elite captains and generally one legendary so that's a lot of immunity buffs and other crap for each one.)

I don't think you can, perhaps if you walk into the entrance icon where you first arrive to a new area before you claim the tower travel points / collectible scouters it'll work as a traversal zone but I thought you had to open the map and click on wherever you wanted to go.
(Which if you just fast travel without opening the areas map it'll be the entrance point and not one of the towers or the fortress.)
