I'd say simultaneous with consoles, but you'd probably declare me a lunatic.

And it was the best Assassin's Creed to date, a true evolution of the things that made AC 1 great? Yeah, I remember that too. Wink

WTF is this shitty loot system. Now I have to change my weapon every 10min..
Same shit with Shadow of War

I bet they introduced it for the sole purpose to ship in loot boxes

that's the reason I disliked the whole Borderlands series

Or don't stick that shit in games that don't need it in the first place.
But shit, after 4675857 crapssassins games they have to try that and every other trick in the book to see if this keeps them in the black Laughing

AC Syndicate had a lot of new mechanics and was pretty fun, there was a crafting system and definitive upgrades

now crappy random generated loot that has 1dps more than your currently equipped loot..

They had crafting in since Assassin's Creed 3 Laughing

Syndicate remains the only AC game I couldn't finish, it was just too bad and bland, despite the fantastic setting. Sad And I tried coming back to it 2 or 3 times.

I enjoyed Unity once it was patched up.

I also tried to get in to Syndicate about 2 or 3 times and just couldn't get in to it.

Finished them all except for Black Flag, its DLC and the one with the chick in Louisiana. I think some other game came out when I was playing Black Flag so I never finished it

Black Flag was quite a different experience, though AC3 already distanced itself from the whole Assassins order which was in decline after the events that could be experienced in Rogue.

Never played through Liberation myself but I have completed the other games although rarely 100% as getting every little collectible for some minor reward was more tedious than fun and the same goes for some of the optional objectives in the earlier games.

Getting some actual equipment as introduced in AC2 was fun though, tombs were a pain at times with clumsy platforming and challenging traps and timed sections but the rewards were useful and things like Brutus armor and weapon even changed some of the moves Ezio could pull off.

Unity put it all in a single but massive city environment, Syndicate did it again but featured London although it also introduced dual characters (Minor differences in which skills you could fully upgrade and sometimes a character was mandatory for certain story bits.) though they seem to have acknowledged the issue with free running and the wider city areas when they just give you a hook-shot that makes regular climbing useless although players can opt to not use the device unless a timed section all but requires this.

GTA Horse carriage destruction derby was just wonky too, thankfully it's not too common but seeing the AI being able to turbo speed regardless of upgrades or type of carriage just for plot reasons was silly and the handling is atrocious plus the whole slamming carriage combat system itself. Very Happy

No idea if vehicles will be featured in Origins, probably not unless shooting arrows at angry Egyptian or Roman soldiers from a raft is going to be counted ha ha.

Syndicate also toned down the sense of scale seen in Unity with less crowds and even more aggressive LOD's since current hardware couldn't really cope otherwise and the Nvidia effects while fantastic looking also really hurt framerate on the PC version.
(But also helped it stick out a bit.)

Although I heard the cities in Origins (Of which there's like three major ones?) are pretty impressive in size even if the game is open world now and there's not just a single large city environment.

Will also be fun to see what the wilder outlying areas look like beyond the towns and city environments, can't all be just sand after all though well Ubi already confirmed as much and the map shows there's some interesting variety for the different (35 or so?) regions in the game.

Wonder if you can actually climb the pyramids too, if this is before they got completely worn down climbing a smooth pyramid shape might not be that easy. Very Happy
(Or if Ubisoft will go all out deathtrap dungeon on them and treasure raiding.)

Wouldn't it be better to just dump the modern day crap already? Especially with this one, which is supposed to break out from the series legacy crap?

I really enjoyed modern day story up until Unity, where it was an afterthought (same as in Syndicate from what I've seen). I really dug the MD story in Black Flag, but I'm glad it finally returns to the (tiny, miniscule spoiler from Origins):

The modern day story was kind of a letdown after Desmond died. I had the fixed idea that he'd learn the skills of his ancestors, and then at some point there would be a modern world Assassins Creed where you played Desmond and took on the Templars in like New York or some other big city.

And it honestly seemed to go in that direction, there were some infiltration parcour bits in the modern world with Desmond where you even fought guards iirc.

The current modern day stories are intriguing sometimes, but... it's just not Desmond. Also doesn't help that they change protagonists each time.

On another note, I'd fucking love if they mashed the universe with Watch_Dogs more. There are mentions of Abstergo in Watch_Dogs, so it's obviously the same universe, but if that would somehow culminate in a big DNA history meddling modern world hacking... game-thing, I'd be interested.

i think many expected that desmond would get an entire game all to himself someday but i guess the historical part was the most interesting thing about the games, after desmond all went to crap, hopefully its interesting again

the present day stuff is there to give the game purpose, among other things you can relive only the most important things that happened to the ancestors life and many times the game would skip ahead some months/years so the story is not linear like other games
