Wonder if the Switch is going to have backwards compatibility, if the WiiU dies and it seems it's about dead already with Nintendo also planning to close the online store for Wii first and the WiiU a bit after with console availability probably also dwindling down.
Emulators and ROM dumps will be able to preserve the games though even if future consoles omit backwards compatibility besides perhaps digital e-store download versions.

I quite enjoyed my Wii U - we got quite many hours of fun out of it as a casual platform. Bayonetta 2 was about the only "true" game on there that I'd play on my own time, though. The Wii U wasn't a bad idea but they really fucked up by keeping the hardware so weak.

A lot of the games from the compat list aren't fully playable at all but just ingame. Checked many of them. Most games can't be finished, users only check one or two levels and assume it's playable whereas when playing they have unsolvable bugs in the emulator. I'd say only 5% is fully playable. But are having major problems regarding frame rates like persona 5 in many parts of the game. And even with the fastest cpu you won't get them. But the emu has some nice features like the upscaling to 4k and af and i think it will be perfect when it's finished.
I am just interested how is The Darkness emulation coming together.

I have Uncharted 1-3 and The Last of Us sitting on my HDD paitiently waiting for improved compatibility RDR I already finished twice on the 360 back in the day. But any big improvements would be welcome.
There are good things happening in the PS3/PS4 scene area lately Now with Emulation, even huge progress on hacking the latest FW's on all PS3.. and probably soon something for the latest models as well.
If anything it will be just playable and we all know what that means.
What does that mean?
New to emulation?
Well playable in emulation generally just means the game can be finished without encountering any game breaking bugs from start to finish, nothing else. So even if the game runs at under 10 fps or has some other not severe issues as long as you can finish it it's playable.
I hope it's them releasing their own device to play ps3 games.... oh wait
