Ended up with a dupe Rocket Raccoon but at least it was free, a new hero would have been nice. Seems Razer also has a promotion going on

It would be nice to get a code from them but since I do not need a new mouse or keyboard currently, I guess I will miss out.

Seems they just posted a new free Random Hero Multiuse code
SDCCMH2015
Not sure how long it will work for but I got Iron Man which is new for me so now I can finally use the 2 extra costumes I already had for him.

It seems that those that have not played the game in a while may have received an email in the last few days with either the heading about a Marvel Heroes New Years Resolution for 2015 or Oops We Forgot Something that has a code for a free random hero box.
If anyone received either of these emails (it may have ended up in your spam folder) and has no plans to use the code, I could give it a nice home, just PM me if anyone gets one that they do not plan to use or a new hero may just be enough motivation to get you guys to give the game another go.

The next big update will be in mid January when they change the name to Marvel Heroes 2016 and add Ch 10 to story mode.

It is a bummer that the game is ending but I think it has a lot to do with Disney being proactive about the harassment allegations against the Gazillion CEO Dave Dorhmann more then anything. Disney needed to get in front of this rather then be reactive after the fact so they had little choice in the matter. I am sure even with the console versions it was still not drawing big numbers compared to the Marvel mobile games so it was easier to cut ties with the Gaz just to avoid any future headaches and news headlines like all the Hollywood stuff currently going on.
I had fun and spent more money on this game than any other in all my time gaming the past 30 years just because it was Marvel and felt like Ultimate Alliance 3 but in this new age of digital gaming (where you do not own anything and cannot even play the games in offline mode most of the time) this will also most likely be the last time I invest so financially heavy into a F2P game but it was fun while it lasted. Still a shame as I was looking forward to Spider-Woman and the last ever Datamine costumes looked great. Now if there was a way to play this offline it would be fun for nostalgia reasons but I guess I will have to end up picking up the Marvel Ultimate Alliance bundle on Steam for that.
