Honestly I'm more interested in "why", not "how" EA is a giant company, it's not inconceivable that some employees followed him independently and never really thought or had the opportunity to ask each other "hey, does that guy we follow on Twitter really work in one of our offices?".
This AMA is such a shot in the foot. There is nothing to soothe the rage of the masses right now so why even bother? DICE are already in a kind of a "under arrest" situation and everything they say or do can and will be used against them as the policemen say in the movies. Not sure if EA made them do it or it's some desperate try by the devs to clear their reputation. It's a brave move but I think it's more stupid.
Sounds about right, another easy skip just like BF1, I'll just yarr the campaign and play the multiplayer of the first game occasionally, which still has many people on Walker Assault matches + all heroes available and a fair enough unlock system.
The latter. They tried too hard to make it like the former, even imitating the font for the kill feed, stats indicators, etc. I played the open beta and uninstalled after the first day, it was just too far away from what Battlefield was in my pleasant memories (BF3 and BF4 already started to distance the franchise from that). Some of my friends fell into the trap (despite my warnings), they played for the first 2 months and never touched it since, quickly moving on to other multiplayer offerings (e.g. PUBG).
SWBF I bought for the nostalgia factor, very shallow game indeed but still a much better overall experience than this (I played both the closed alpha and open beta of SWBF2, I enjoyed the closed alpha but for some reason I uninstalled the open beta after the first night playing).
