After EA has been the main target of peopls hatred, it might be worth checking out another contender:
Remember Activision, the guys that patented a way to lure people into buying lootboxes by cheating on their ingame matchmaking?
Well apparantly this one isnt that far off....
As a redditor found out, Bungie is cheating on the amount of experience points you get the more you play. But why is this such a big deal? Well, Bungie is "kind" enough to give us lootboxes for a level up like Overwatch, but apparantly messes with you just enough, so you are fed up just grinding at some point, while limiting the lootboxes you can earn playing the game reasonably.
TLDR – If you earn XP slow, the ingame display is correct. If you play normally, the game drops some XP (~ 50%). If you power-grind XP the game will drop most of your XP (in testing, I managed to lose ~95% of the XP during an ‘enemies moving against each other’ event)
- There is a hidden scaling factor that ramps up as you earn XP more quickly.
To get one thing clear: There is no cap to XP. You can keep earning XP as fast as you want, and you will always be making progress towards that next bright engram. You will just face dramatically diminishing returns the faster you go.
We’ve seen community discussion around XP gain in Destiny. After reviewing our data, we agree that the system is not performing the way we’d like it to. Today, we’d like to describe what’s going on under the hood, and talk about what you can expect going forward when it comes to earning XP in Destiny 2.
Currently, XP will scale up when playing longer or fixed duration activities like Crucible competitive multiplayer matches and the Leviathan Raid, and XP will scale down when playing activities that can be quickly, repeatedly chained, like grinding Public Events. We are not happy with the results, and we’ve heard the same from the community.
Effective immediately, we are deactivating this system.
As a result, players will see XP earn rates change for all activities across the board, but with all values being displayed consistently in the user interface. Over the course of the next week, we will be watching and reviewing XP game data to ensure that these changes meet our expectations, as well as yours. Any additional updates to this system will be communicated to you via our official channels.
i so regret buying this.
it's been ages that i honestly regret purchasing a game cause i tend to research a lot but i guess i got drawn in by the hype of never having played the first one.
I'm pretty new to Destiny, never played the first one, are the bright engrams really that big a deal? It's all cosmetic crap anyway isn't it?
Meh not really, i actually found this implementation of lootboxes probably one of the most subtle ones i've seen in any lootbox game, they're nothing to worry about imo. (not that i approve of it)
It's mostly the game itself that's just really shallow.
Short version:
- It’s true that there’s no moment to moment experience scaling anymore.
- However, either levels now require 160,000 experience, or there’s a global 50% reduction versus what is shown. They used to require 80,000 experience before the update.
- This offsets the vast, vast majority of gains you would have made in leveling speed from getting full experience during things like event farming. I wasn’t 100% clear on how they calculated it, but the poster’s estimation was that you effectively only get 6% more experience than when public events just halved your experience versus what was shown (before you ran into the old 95% reduction). Presumably leveling would now take even longer without doing so to boot.

The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.

it's basicly the division minus fun
There was fun in The Division?
Yes in trailer it looked fun, before game got released
There is...4v4 PvP. It's available in the trial as well.

Eh you just summed up 80% of all console "perfect games" that get overhyped. I always felt that console gamers vastly exaggerated how good a certain game really is. My favorite console games are not even all that hyped (Persona for example).
Is there any PVP action in this game ?? Is it just PVE ?
Yes, there is PVP. Glorious console PVP that is. Peer2peer, built-in wallhacks/esp, a minimap/radar that is literally a cheat in itself, aim-assist (even with M&KB and people using certain programs to activate gamepad aim-assist ontop of that)...
So, if you put all these things into your drawer-of-denial, get rid of any standards and shut your brain off, it "can" be fun for a romp... as the normi says.

So do i get this right, at first they half the xp you get to level up silently and after the discovery and uproar they reverted it back only to double the xp you need for a level up ?
The game's design is completely hostile towards people that actually want to put time into the games they are playing (we used to call them gamers I think). So much is obvious now. They really don't want people like that (Their money? Yes, please!. But them sticking around? Hell no!). I guess we complain too much... calling them out on their bullshit... and we don't buy shit for real money in their shitty microtransaction stores... so we gotta go... by any means necessary. The casual is the new god to please and he don't complain... because he's even too casual to bother complaining.
Seriously... it feels like something tries to bully me out of this game
Thank god... that's alot better and way less hostile to no-lifes like me. Maybe they will turn it around afterall. I heard similar things about Destiny1. Wasn't that great at first either I was told but got alot better over time.
