Yes writing is important but no, writers don't cost more. Assets are expensive to create - you need far more people on graphics than you do writers and writers don't make all that much more ... not to mention writers can make do with a 100 year old type writers. Designers need all sorts of expensive stuff like motion capture and so on.

This could be anything or alot of nothing. Just fyi, afaik, he left Obsidian but it was also said he's available to them for projects.

But it's propably a huge letdown... Creation Club crap seems most likely to me too...

I've never seen him say that. He's made it pretty clear since he left that there is some bad blood between him and management (I suspect Parker/Urquhart especially). I think he has intimated that he would happily work with some of the devs, but outside Obsidian. I can't see him doing anything with Obsidian directly ever again.

Ooohh, I take that back.. The last time I followed the whole Avellone leaving Obsidian situation was when it happened in 2015 and it looks more like business sugarcoating now when I think about it. Like you said, there was more details revealed in 2016 and they seem to have some beef. Shame Sad

Yeah he was pretty circumspect initially, but he has bagged them pretty heavily in various interviews over the last 12 months or so. They clearly did not part on good terms.

So any big mod news?
That Cascadia thing (which I have some doubts if it will see the light of day) and FROST (that thankfully continues to trudge along) are the only big mods I know of.

Anything out there like FOOK, FWE or Project Nevada?

There's not much besides the bigger projects, there's Fallout Miami too, which had some very nice progress.

Other than the low-end mods like this (which can still be fun):
https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/27340/?
https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/27367/?

There's not much.

There's Horizon, similar overhaul to what FWE/PN were, but not quite of the same scope yet; at least not when I last checked (might be different now, looks like it's had several major updates since).

Most of these are pretty great.

Too bad it's probably still a few years away from a release, if even. Sad

What's that, and what's with the console like camera movement?

@Ankh
In todays time and with Bethesdas budget i would have expected that it doesn't control like an Indie VR project, and that the graphics don't get downgraded by such a huge amount.

Ah yes - I do agree with that I suppose, especially since you get no discount if you already have FO4+DLC and the game cost €60 I guess.

Boston has low FPS in real life. It's a known fact. What do you think it'll happen in VR?!

It's a crutch for those who get nausea from 'normal' movement - some games also only have that instead of moving around freely.

This article was literally JUST removed, so either the issue has been fixed, or there's an embargo issue.

https://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:H3jRb5Rkv2gJ:https://uploadvr.com/fallout-4-vr-oculus-rift/+&cd=4&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=uk

Once again, Bethesda have decide to fuck with Rift users, just because of their issues with Oculus - is like deliberately losing half your playerbase for no other reason than spite.

Fallout 4 VR is not compatible with Touch controllers, as they've deliberately made the trackpad on the Vive work in a way that is not emulatable using the thumbsticks. Judging by the videos, this is a conscious design choice and not the 'best' way to do it, to ensure Rift owners cannot play it properly.

Between this and their deliberate attempt to sabotage Doom... Bethesda are fast becoming a joke, willing to help damage VR just because of a spat.

That's a really shitty thing to do against their customers. For children to act out of spite, that is one thing, for big companies to have that mindset and against possibly tens of thousands of customers, that is inexcusable. Another company i will never support again unless they decide to change this.
