So m3th0ds mini-review got me a bit more interested in the game and I came across this video. Where 1 guy with, afaik, shitty gear came across 3 decked out mofo's and wrecked them.

It's an AK with a scope. Wouldn't call that shitty gear.

Regardless, I'm looking forward to either testing this game during the upcoming 'free week' or during the OBT phase. Defo not buying beforehand, I can wait to see how it is.

It's an (OP-)SKS Very Happy

Nah, he's pretty decked. Especially for the map he's playing there. But there are videos were people pull these things off where they aren't. Hell, I'm sure everyone playing it pulled somethingoff here and there. I know I did. Snook up on people with my melee weapon while they were looting or otherwise distracted and it was lights out for them. Happens to me too on the recieving end.

Oh, sure, it's an SKS, you're right. I only watched the clip for 20 secs. Very Happy I hate these "I'm playing this and that" videos. Smile

I meant in comparison to their gear, but then again I have no clue just how good an SKS actually is in this game but I figured an AS-VAL, some 50 cal looking rifle and something that looks like an AWP were much better than what he had on.

Either way, it was fun to watch. Razz

I know next to shit about this game (conscious decision, I want to expereience it for myself), so have no idea how various weapons and ballistics in general behave, it's just that when you wrote he had shit gear, I was thinking more along the lines of a Makarov-TT. Very Happy

OP-SKS and Paca is a cheap and effective way to #rek people on maps like Woods and Shoreline if you are good at this game. But it really requires completely map knowledge.
I love doing that if I'm somehow running low on gear, SKS + PSO + Silencer costs next to nothing and then bring a Paca so you won't die to some Scav hidden in a bush and you are good to go. Even with PS ammo it works great.

Steam or bust. Also, no way I am buying this if I don't first test out how the framerate and the lag is on my PC and connection. So some kind of free trial on Steam.

There is a 7 day trial later if you are registered on the website and lucky, or if you have some friend who bought the game early enough who get 7 day keys, like Nodrim I think.

My guess would be because they got steam-wallet monopoly money from skin trading or other market shenanigans. Tbh, I wish I could've paid for this with by PUBG cosmetics money aswell. The mentioned concerns are very valid ones though. About performance etc. that is.

Besides, if people still think it's pay2"win"... well, I think I explained it as good as possible and if that doesn't suffice, well, fair enough... I highly doubt anything will change their mind about it though. Not even if you smear the evidence that it's not into their faces.

But I can tell you guys again, I thought I did already on the previous page... optimization is not the best and there are lag/de-sync issues that affect everyone. So unless someone claims that those issues don't exist... I don't see the need to test it if it's pretty much confirmed. Doesn't make much sense to me and sounds more like that "scam" paranoia I was suffering from myself. I didn't believe anyone's word either. But then I felt like just jumping the shark and wasn't disappointed in the end. Quite the contrary. I don't feel the urge to change anyone's mind to be completely and utterly frank. I just felt giving my cents about the matter because I wanted to read something like it myself when I was still in the same boat... so if that helped someone out, good. If not, also fair enough.

Well performance is slightly worse than PUBG but the game actually looks good even on Low while PUBG looks like wet bag of shit even at everything maxed and runs even worse.
This game is really pretty, if they could actually optimize it now.. This game is the only reason I'm even looking at buying a GPU right now.

But I can't play Tarkov at 1440p on my current setup, need to run the game at 1080p to play it competitive.

This comparison is so out of place. PUBG has maps 10x bigger than all the current maps of Tarkov combined. PUBG can hold 100 players at a time with a decent netcode while Tarkov fails miserably in performance and netcode when the biggest map can hold 13 players + a few scavs. Tarkov is pretty much unplayable on the highest details which don't even include an option for AA. I've seen streamers trying the highest details just to turn back to lower settings because of the constant freezes. It's easy to spot how terrible the netcode behaves when in online mode a scav (NPC) takes a ton of bullets to the torso to die while in offline dies from two.
I'm not saying that PUBG does well, quite the opposite, even after launch the netcode isn't on point and I don't think I can play it on my system on the highest settings at a constant 60fps (I haven't tried). But don't tell me Tarkov runs well, because it does not. This is Unity engine and pretty much everyone is aware of its problems.

I want it on Steam so I can have it on my account with the rest of my games, so I can download it whenever I want. So it autoupdates and I don't need another 3rd party client on my PC. So I don't need to register to the developer's site and forum and just use the steam forum. You activate a game on steam, that's it, no hassle, it just works forever.

I don't want to create new accounts, save payment receipts and serials etc.

Also, I said I want to run it on my PC/connection. So when it comes to Steam, I will be hoping for some trial. They have confirmed months ago it will come on Steam, it's not like I am whining about that.

There isn't a monopoly, EA has Origin, there is GOG, Ubishit has UPlay etc.

But there is a limit to how many accounts and saved cdkeys a mofo can have before he says, fuck off

World of Warships came to Steam, I could install it with a few clicks without the p2p shitclient Wargaming had, I installed it, simple. Customer comes first, I won't make compromises so that Steam doesn't get even bigger. Laughing

Are the Tarkov devs offering refunds? If not then there you have your answer. Also I don't want a million launchers for a million games

It's worse than PUBG despite having a way smaller map and not even close to a 100 players on the map? Oh boy that just sounds great! What a stellar game

Well, they won't exactly have a Free Trial from what I understood. They will invite people for Stress Tests but you are not guaranteed to be invited.

Also, do note that the price on their website doesn't reflect the real price of the game. The price is without VAT and also they have some sort of transaction fee so the 35 euro got to 45 euro for me personally. Needless to say, it was quite the surprise when I tried buying it....

Yeah, I'll wait until these russians optimise their game and bring it to Steam and I can read the reviews and discussions there.

Same here. Their way of doing business is to shady. The fact alone that they hide the real price is a big no no for me.

And yes, i want it on Steam too, not on some stupid launcher, web service or whatever which serves no real purpose.

Are the keys region locked or something? If they are not and there are no other shady restrictions like "Russian language only", then I suppose one could get it for ~24 euro from the Russian version of their site.(standard edition)
