Well, the battle was pretty good, I mean action-wise.
The writing in general, however, was mediocre..especially when the brothers and their allies met to discuss how they could avoid the civil war.

What a waste of time.
 Spoiler: | They've been hyping this battle up since the beginning of the season and it turned out to be a giant cop-out where no important characters died. I also loved how Lagertha and friends managed to pull off an ambush and a flanking attack, while Ivar's best plan seemed to be walking up to the enemy and doing some useless last-minute maneuvers right in front of their eyes. Great plan, they'll never see it coming /s. Master strategist my ass.
I guess if we've learned anything from this show, it's that Vikings didn't have a concept of scouting |

Well, from the writing side this was probably one of the worst episodes of the whole show.
- Magrith (?) going full retard with imaging things and behaving crazy towards the kids.
- The bee..

I was laughing and facepalming at how sudden and badly done this happened.
I mean, he never got killed in any of the many fights, but by a fucking bee - which also made him look like some hentai figure
This just felt like like a badly done comedy scene. |

Holy rushed plot developments, Batman! The writing in the last few eps has been so terrible that I think it might finally be time to drop the show. No amount of likeable characters can save this mess.

Feel like this has gone a bit like GOT, everything is moving quickly so it can be wrapped up.
Feels like it is more about set pieces and battles now.
Next season has already been renewed but maybe it will be the last?
The only thing that appears to have improved this season is the way it is filmed? Some of the scenes have been really good...

now that alfred is king its a great time to switch to" the last kingdom" tv series , think its the same alfred period wize as we have now (diff actor), same smarts n looks
it features king alfred in a lot of seasons and is pretty damn close to viking quality, a few stupid eps aswel and some silly deicisons of main character, but very enjoyable 3 seasons of entertainment

probably going to start watching this tomorrow since the first half of the season is almost done.. im seeing that the writing is plummeted in quality.. is it still at least better than GoT season 7?

Imho it's considerably worse. Mainly coz GOT season 7 had a nice pacing albeit a bit rushed, and vikings' last season is stretched to 20 episodes and there is much more stupid and badly written shit than in GOT.

problem with got is that it did a rubbish job of showing to the viewer that time has passed. a great film/tv show will be able to convey the passage of time so that the audience is aware theyve skipped ahead (and no, i dont mean just putting up text saying '1 year later'  ). a bad one just jumps ahead and has the audience thinking its happening tomorrow until hours later where they figure out that its been literally months or years.
