This report also said that McAvoy and Shipp will reprise their roles as Professor X and Storm from Apocalypse while Wolfsband and Magik already have actors cast: Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams will play Wolfsband and Anya Taylor-Joy, the breakout star of indie horror hit The Witch, will play Magik.

The movie will focus on the angst-driven adventures of a diverse group of teens that include Native American Danielle Moonstar, Scots girl Wolfsbane, Brazilian ladies man Sunspot, a Kentuckian code-named Cannonball, and Russian teen Magik. Also in the mix will be an alien named Warlock.

Our sources indicate the feature will be a big departure from the sci-fi-action spectacle of other X-Men films and is instead being described as a “Stephen King meets John Hughes”-style horror movie. A comparison that might make people think of this summer’s hit series Stranger Things, albeit with even more super powers.
In addition, we’ve learned that New Mutants is being targeted for a spring 2018 release date and that the previously rumored casting is in fact accurate. There’s also another familiar face being eyed for the cast of the film with Nat Wolff (who starred in Boone’s The Fault in Our Stars) as the mutant Cannonball!

Wow, super good first trailer! I wonder how the movie really plays out. Is it as a horror-like as the trailer makes it to be? I know they said it's like that before the trailer was even released (I mean I made a post about it), still, I really wonder how it really is.

20th Century Fox in association with Marvel Entertainment presents “The New Mutants,” an original horror thriller set in an isolated hospital where a group of young mutants is being held for psychiatric monitoring. When strange occurrences begin to take place, both their new mutant abilities and their friendships will be tested as they battle to try and make it out alive.
VFX look weak sauce, but on the maybe plus side, they ended up skipping the reshoots after all, so this is supposed to be close to to what the director intended before they decided to change it.

Looks pretty cheap... From what I've seen, this looks like a "teens in distress against the world" kind of movie, where most of the time they will be in love and speak tough, and from time to time some cheap effect will explode. "Kid" actors look yuck.
Why couldn't they just continue with Dafne Keen and make the X-23 movie, like it was expected after Logan?
