Oh youth, I remember the days when my fanboysm was clouding my vision turning me into an apologetic.

I gotta say that we, the gamers, aren't always the brightest bunch. This picking sides, excusing some developers (the righteous ones doing it for the art not for the money...) over others (the despicable AAA creators) it's not doing us any favors. Ironically enough, some of the developers that get a pass get to lie using our paid upfront money, years before the game's release.

they deserve it though, great dev

Same here. It's odd. I even tried replaying the first but stopped at around the same place again.
Really fun while it lasts though.

I think the biggest flaw in this game, and at smaller level of first game too, is leveling/encounter system and how it leads to "gating" of content.

You get big area to explore, but only small section of area enemies are beatable by your level, since even +1 level encounters are very hard or impossible to beat. And this is one of those rare games where enemies have static levels, instead of scaling.

Then you scout around whole map, without combat, looking to get most loot and map enemy levels. Then you fight all the enemies and solve related quests in linear fashion.

Also, every level or two, new equipment needs to be bought, due to insane differences between equipment and your enemies on every level. And at every new level traders new get equipment that is comparable to your level.

This whole thing can get tiresome after some time. Still like the game, but this is a really big weakness.

I had opened up a few tabs and thought the above was for AC: Origins since I heard that even it gates content and has enemies that don't scale. Pretty interesting...

1 and 2 are still amazing.

Patch v3.0.158.595

Quote:
One feature many of you requested was the ability to turn off the automatic addition of skills or items to the hotbar. Another feature that might make life a little easier for you: having Lucky Charm on one character now applies that talent to the whole party. And lockpicks and trap disarm kits are now shared automatically via Magic Pockets!

Along with the many bug-fixes we’ve made improvements all across the game, including to the UI and to Game Master Mode. We’ve also made changes that will increase compatibility with mods. You’ll find the full list below. (Some of the fixes apply to story so beware, here lieth spoilers.)

They fixed the most annoying things a week after I finished it, took me 80 hours. Not gonna play it again for a while. Most annoying bug was the auto add to toolbar, fucking hated it.

Well, I'd still love a way to sell stuff more easily.

Ie define that 'use bartering' skill from this dude no matter from whom inventory the items are sold from.

the item distribution was getting very annoying.

+ It should have just a simple MOVE ALL items to X's inventory and then some simple distribute 'stacks' to split stacks of healing items across characters.

It was a very nice game, but not GOTY material IMHO.
Surprised though that a site like PCGamer is giving a game like that such a reward.

PC Gamer didn't pick it as best RPG, but as GOTY. But to answer your question, I think ELEX is a better RPG because it makes better use of the elements that are important for this genre. As an overall game, DOS2 is clearly superior.

Im thinking of trying this now and wanna try the "demo" version first, but all the patches....

In the info of the last patch it said;

You need the following releases for this:

Divinity.Original.Sin.2-CODEX
Divinity.Original.Sin.2.Update.v3.0.146.559-CODEX
Divinity.Original.Sin.2.Update.v3.0.158.595-CODEX

But there are like 10+ updates, if i get those 2 + latest patch will i get all the updates?

Anyone who have tried ? thx Smile

You need only the ones that they say are required. That's why they are listing them.

That's correct, those two patches (rather large) + 3.0.160.028-CODEX will get you up to the latest version.

Has the game changed at all since launch? I played until end ish of chapter 2 on tactician. Anything to warrant a restart?

The fact that your save won't work.

I tried some saves from October and they loaded fine. I guess that if your saves are after launch (not early access) they're fine.

Yea, I played first at the launch, I recall also that the early access saves had some issues.

Unfortunately these changes are so substantial that your old saved games will no longer be compatible with the latest patch. But not to worry, you can keep playing them if you switch back to an older version of the game.

That was a patch for the Early Access version, long before launch. EA saves shouldn't be used, but it looks like launch/retail saves should be fine.

Yes, and in my opinion Original Sin 2 is even better than the first Dragon Age.
