Methinks AC didn't have more diplomatic options, but managed to create an illusion of there being more stuff due to quality flavor text.
But drill it down and AC diplomacy is basically a simplistic extortion simulator with ability to coordinate battle plans 
In AC diplomacy feels more alive thanks to quality flavor text and the game itself having no restrictive systems. For example... There are closed borders, but game doesn't restrict your units from crossing them. You sign Pact, Truce agreements but still can immediately violate them. There is no cool down timers. |

Game still needs one or two more major expansions. The AI is still the biggest issue though.

Nice go! Gonna play with them for sure. Could be interesting to focus on warfare from the very first turns, to conquer and eliminate other civs / states in the ancient era, so you won't be affected by warmongering penalties.
Mapuches are a must for me too.

Whoever was responsible for the Dark/Normal/Golden/Heroic age map filter should be double castrated 
Dark age map - no bloom, minimum brightness, minimum saturation
Normal age map - Regular map
Golden age map - more bloom, more brightness, more saturation
Heroic age map - maximum bloom, maximum brightness, maximum saturation. Why ? Acid spirit of the stone why
There must be an GUI option to disable this shit

The new rebellion mechanic is fucking idiotic.
I conquered all of England's cities save their capital and one other small one (I wanted to leave them for trade purposes). I had them cede all the cities I'd captured and declare peace.
Every 10 turns or so, the city closest to their capital would rebel, even though I had a governor and army fortified inside. I'd recapture the city from the rebels, and the same thing would happen 10 turns later.
My question is this - why is a city allowed to rebel more than once in such quick succession? You'd think after the first time you re-conquered it from the rebellion, your army could move in, slaughter some women and children to make an example of what happens to rabble-rousers, and that'd be that. It should be a one time deal (or at least once per Age).
Fuck that loyalty mechanic.
