I'm looking forward to experiencing flight, driving sims and elite in the rift.
I briefly had a play with the dk2 but not with the above.
Unfortunately May is when my oculus comes. I don't think I will need the vive as I predominantly use simulators and will be seated.
What exactly is this 'laser pointer' for DCS, and will v2 be released on steam?
Yep, the Rift has been said to be "clearer" than the Vive, so I guess the Rift is the best bet for seated simulation experience.
DCS 2.0 will come to Steam as soon as 1.5.x and 2.0 are merged. (Because 2.0 don't support Caucasus map for now, so 2.0 wouldn't have a map to play on unless you bought Nevada)
Personally I have switched to non-steam installation (1.5.3 + 2.0 openBeta) from now on, tired of waiting and lower price on their store anyways.
Too bad Valve doesn't allow them to provide us Steamable keys anymore...

there's really no difference with the panels
both have a (very) subtle screendoor effect
only i can see the goddamn square edges of the consumer oculus' screen
while vive is masked as a circle
for seated experience the only difference is that and the oculus being a bit lighter

No, you install the game for free and can fly 2 planes. Then if you want, you can buy campaigns+their respective planes for 10 euros each.
This is an open world combat sim game, you are not supposed to get all the planes and all the campaigns, only the ones you really want to invest time in. For example, you can pay 38 euros and get the "DCS: Flaming Cliffs 3" package which contains some staple aircraft of modern air combat (F-15C, Su-27, A-10A, Su-25, Su-33 and MiG-29) and the campaigns and missions associated with that game.
