So I did get one. The screen is surprisingly good, tbh, I've got no issues with it. It's a little bit less crisp than Vive for sure, but you don't really notice it that much in most games.
I don't have Moves yet, and I only played a couple of demos, some mini-games from VR Worlds and Gran Turismo. I especially liked London Heist, Danger Ball (so simple yet so strangely fun) and the Moss demo - that last one surprised me, because it didn't seem like my kind of a game, and It didn't seem like it would gain much in VR, but boy, playing it with a headset on was a blast. Gran Turismo looked solid too, but it's a bit boring as a VR experience (just too limited).
I'm getting Skyrim VR next week. Thinking about getting Raw data too, since it's on sale - when I get the Moves.
No motion sickness altogether either, assuming the headset is properly calibrated. That seems to be insanely important - one time something was slightly off I immediately got hit with dizziness when I tried one of the demos (the space horror one, can't remember the title). When I fixed it, I played the same thing without any problems.
Two new patents filed by Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) suggest that a new motion-controller could be on the way, specifically designed to boost the interactive nature of the company’s virtual reality (VR) platform, PlayStation VR. Not only does this potential revision of the existing PlayStation Move controller add an analog stick – a much requested feature of the PlayStation VR community – but also finger tracking technology.
Interesting, although the new tracking method kinda hints it's meant for future technology, or a serious revision of PSVR. I kinda doubt it'll happen this generation - releasing a considerably more advanced HMD would cripple the player base, which already isn't all that big anyway (2 mil is a lot for VR, but not that much in the grand scheme of things).
Besides, to be perfectly honest, I think that with some proper cleverness from developers, analog sticks aren't needed on Moves - not really. I really want to see how Golem's movement scheme will turn out, because if it actually does work as intended, I'd rather have something like that in my VR games, than any analog stick (of course, having better controllers anyway doesn't hurt).
I hope so too. I played the demo from demo disc 2, and it was surprisingly fun. Cute in a way, quite goodlooking, with a somewhat fresh gameplay for the genre. I didn't expect to enjoy it as much as I did.
Flight School Studio revealed their upcoming game, Island Time VR. The game, in which players are shipwrecked on a tiny island, is set to release sometime soon.
Playing RE7 on this right now. Holyyyy fuuuuuck. If there's ever a question of one game that can show off what this hardware can do and mean to the industry, it's this one.
I consider myself a survival horror fan. I've played most meaningful titles over the years, loved many of them. Some I found legitimately scary, especially when played at night and with surround sound or a good headset. The feeling of dread usually fades after a while, but, despite that, I always appreciate the atmosphere.
But honestly? I've never felt anything remotely close to what I feel when I'm playing Resident Evil 7 in VR. It's so intense and so damn hard to describe to anybody who hasn't tried it, lol There's just something fundamentally different in how your brain processes stuff that is all around you and has actual depth to it. Or maybe it's the simple fact that you can't just look away and escape the game this way. Sure, you can technically close your eyes, but good luck remembering that when you're actually playing. And even then, you can't exactly close your ears and the awesome binaural 3D sound is just as important to the whole thing.
Oh, and it looks surprisingly good too. Compromises are there for sure, but waaaay, waaay less severe than I anticipated.
The game is not perfect, sure - there are some kinks and wrinkles to straighten out (these fucking disconnected arms, for example) - and I expect the feeling to fade somewhat after a while, but even with all that, it's shaping up to be one of the best gaming experiences of my life. It's so good I actually don't want to play it sometimes It's a game changer, plain and simple. I don't think I'll look the same way at "flat" survival horrors, ever again.
*hides under the desk and listens for the sound of a chainsaw being fired up*
Sadly, it doesn't seem to be very good. TBH, I never found it very appealing, and it seems it turned out to be an average time-crisis-like shooter, with some bad mechanics and weird gunplay.
This one I kinda expected - never a good sign when there's no new footage or info about a game just a week prior to its supposed release. Still, it makes me sad.
I was on the fence to buy Bravo Team since I love Time Crisis and Virtua Cop but all reviews say it's shit and it looks boring in videos compared to Time Crisis or Virtua Cop.
Seems like the PS3 Time Crisis with PS Move is much enjoyable than this shit.
Bravo Team’s third-person camera movement system snatches control away from the player far too much, creating a jarring and unfriendly experience. Movement is just the peak of myriad problems in Bravo Team, including tracking issues, AI goofs, and just plain bad and boring game design. Endless waves of bullet-sponge enemies in one boring location become more endless waves of enemies in another boring location, and dealing with Bravo Team’s other issues means it’s not even a boring waste-of-time type of shooter. It’s altogether a bad game with few redeemable aspects that doesn’t represent the best of VR or Supermassive and should be avoided at all costs.
Oh well. I have enough games to play anyway, VR and non-VR. Bought Sparc yesterday, because there was a heavy discount that was nearing its end, and I've heard surprisingly good things about this game. I'll have to check it out later.
How bad would it be to have a psvr without move controllers? Most games require move? I took back my oculus to the store for full refund in 1 months time since i wasnt that happy with the sde effect/glare, but tempted to try the psvr ( its 250sh euros here bundled with camera and vr worlds or gt sport, leaning towards vr worlds).
Problem is move controllers are nowhere to be found in big stores and only some small ones have them for 50e each... which is a shit price imo ( way overpriced) and id be stuck with them if i return the psvr in that one month after buying it.
Also are there any good free vr games/xperiences or would i need to shell out cash for every game? Problematic to resell games if vr only i imagine.
