Damn this game is boring. Spent 2 hours in it and it was yawn all the way. I'll place this in the same bunch as AC3, AC:Revelations, AC:Syndicate, AC: Unity...
It IS pretty (if you have the hardware) but that's it.

This is it though, I loved the setting and looks.
Was even thinking about buying it at first but then I saw the gameplay and damn it was boring to watch... and stupid shit like companion walking RIGHT in front of an enemy who ignored him and stop in front of the main guy to get stabbed.
Make sure you also up the resolution modifier if you haven't, makes a vast difference I have mine set to 140%.. FPS does take a huge hit, but worth it..
Yeah temporal AA causes a bit of blurriness so offsetting by running the game through downsampling is helpful though it's too costly for me in the busier town areas though it does look fantastic.
Sharpening via ReShade is a alternative too but can introduce slight artifacts and "noisiness" depending on method and the strength of the effect though it's down to user preference how good or bad this looks.
With the DLC unlocker I wonder if the Asian armor set coming February 13th is already included too?
Obviously for the legal edition it'll be held on the cash-only shop for a few weeks before being added to the Heka chest table of item drops.
(But since the previous patch added two DLC folders and only had the For Honor equipment in the store that's one folder unaccounted for which could be that outfit.)

Black Flag kinda ruined all the following games, a pirate adventure with plenty islands to explore and ship battles is simply the franchise's high point and cannot be improved upon.

No..... i run 4K on the TV, or sometimes on the monitor (but mostly on TV since HDR).
what kind of evidence is there that the DRM is causing any kind of performance problems?
Did some other game suffer from it and someone removed it so there could be a proper performance comparison?
The "performance friendly open world game that at the same time looks 'next gen'!" has never, ever existed.
I have the PS4 version btw.. i dont think it has the DRM.. it runs like absolute crap on the Pro (below 30 FPS sometimes).. i somehow doubt the DRM does much, if anything, to performance.
Are you seriously suggesting that 2 layers of heavily obfuscated VM DRM do not have a noticeable performance impact? Yeah on 8-core, they don't.So what? If you don't believe the numbers that were posted on internet in regard to absolutely ridiculous number of "calls"\checks Denuvo does, then you can inspect it yourself, the tools are out there, if you know how to. These claims can be checked, it's not like it's a secret.
When they removed Denuvo from DOOM and it was benched, it turned out that at 1080p (the most CPU bound resolution) the performance increase was pretty big.
Now, what we've got here? Infamous shitty ubilol coding+ 2 layers of VM DRM. So it stands to reason that it is most likely the cause of the game raping CPU so much. Especially if paranoid devs set a ridiculous amount of checks like in case of RIME. It's a recipe for disaster.

Yeah..Waiting for the new Asus PG27UQ 4k 144 hrz Gsync HDR monitor to come out!!
I believe it will be in march/april...at a ridiculous price probably too..
Still gonna buy it though. I figured having my ps4 pro hooked on it also is like a double wammer for 1 screen.
Too many good exclusives on the ps4 this year to not enjoy it to it's max!!
But that's just me.

There is no real evidence that at least Denuvo is crippling performance.
For example not so long ago Denuvo for Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 was officially removed. Performance was pretty much the same afterwards as before.
Though as this also has VM layer, this might be different.
Just the way a normal VM works, this would by default mean a lowered performance.

I was just seriously curious if there was any kind of evidence.
Again, performance wise its similar to other games like this, Witcher 3 etc. Witcher does have more clutter most of the time, but its also older and i'm not sure i think it looks as a good as this, especially characters..
Since they've said it has no impact i guess they now really can't remove it either, if they wanted (wouldnt look good for them if it shows it has a big perf. impact)

No not even close
Then it's most likely something on your end, i've tried both games first on 980 ti and a gen 2 intel i7, now on 1080 ti + gen 8 intel, on highest settings.. they're equally demanding i'd say. The hair works stuff in Witcher 3 is especially heavy on the performance (in ACO you can't turn that stuff off though).
388.71 drivers seems to be the best for this game btw... i tried myself and got slightly better results, also googled it and it seems most people agree its the driver you should use for less stutter/performance problems.

Heh, good thing I haven't updated since those. Was a bit scared the game wouldn't run that well reading about it and seeing how it looks, but suprisingly it's not the case at all, pretty happy with it.
As for the game itself, I had it download over night and once I woke up I installed it while doing various things. Played it for around 7 hours it seems, I absolutely love it. So glad we finally have a game set in Egypt and it's really well done.

Huh?!?
Where did you get that from, that ACO uses Nvidia hairworks?
The game doesn't seem to actually use anything from GameWorks curiously enough seeing how Ubisoft often co-operated with NVIDIA for the previous Assassin's Creed titles and many other franchises.
Instead of HBAO+ there's just Ubisoft's own SBCC (Or what it was called.) solution, there's no PCSS or volumetric light shafts, Ansel is replaced by a custom free camera and photo mode system and there's nothing like TurfFX or Hairworks.
EDIT: On another note is it just me or are the .50 cal bow also known as the sniper bow using some seriously over-sized arrows?

(Yeah textures but since I'm more than a few meters away the actor is in a lower level-of-detail area, unfortunate for overall image quality but the arrow being the equivalent of a .50 is still clear.)

ACO CPU usage on the same rig is 60%-90%. (1920x1080, all maxed out except for shadows-medium- and AA, vsync on) . Usually it's 70-80+% with spikes to 90++%

So i fixed the frame hitching by turning on vsync, so weird
PS Setting the number of prerendered frames to 1 (nvidia control panel) also helps to make the game run smoother.
PPS Btw has anyone had any crashes with the cracked version? I had some.
you're cheating if you're not using their hair works though, no way to turn those effects off in AC:O afaik... also i couldnt really care less how cpu usage looks, its all about what FPS you get in the end. Both performs very equally FPS-wise on i7 gen 2, 980 ti and on what i have in my sig..
ACO 85-95 fps (it doesn't have crapworks, just look at your character hair or NPCs' hair. And even if it does, then it's something so negligible in terms of graphics that it looks as if there was no hairworks at all, so it can't be compared to fully enabled w3 hairworks anyways
TW3 - 145-150+ fps (no crapworks) 100-110 fps with crapworks (maxed)
