I don't think this is the best time to experience the game. I read on the forums about some problems with memory leaking. The servers are up so they could gather more info and localize the source of the problem.

It's a blend of PvP and PvE which sometimes feels slow paced but can get intense really fast.
The objectives are pretty simple to follow. Find three clues to reveal the location of the boss, fight and kill the boss, banish it and run away with bounty. As you search for clues you can fight or avoid various types of monsters and stumble on other players who are doing pretty much the same thing as you. The world design is very good and you can approach an area multiple ways, you can be loud or quiet as well, it's pretty much up to the player. However, PvP is unavoidable if you want to do something in a mission other than running around killing monsters for xp.
After killing the boss you have to go through a banishing phase before you can take your bounty. This makes the location of the boss visible for on the map. Having looted the bounty also means you can be tracked by other players. So you are never really safe unless everyone selse is dead,.
The gameplay has some really cool mechanics to spice things up, but nothing way too complex, I won't go into details (I'm working on a guide right now about this). There is a solid learning curve and even hours into the game we found out things we didn't know about.
The game has a good character customization system, but unlike in BR games, this happens in the menus. You can recruit hunters with different gear and upgrades based on their tier and you can customize them with the money you earn by doing missions. The customizations are provided by two types of progression systems. The first one is hunter based (leveling) and it's lost when the hunter dies. The leveling grants points which can be spent on increasing the hunter's hp or buying additional traits. The second progression is account based (Bloodline) and it's pretty much a system of unlockables (items, guns, traits, etc.) which you can buy for your hunters.
While I have no problems with the money, Hunt is a bit hardcore and I could see things going the wrong way. The end-game unlocks are quite expensive and it's not that hard to go into a mission with 400$ worth of gear just to die fast without managing to recover any of the expenses.
On the technical part, the game looks gorgeous. The setting is great and the world design is excellent. There is a certain level of map interaction which provides more options for the gameplay. Sadly, there are plenty of visual glitches and I've spotted unpolished areas which give this vibe of low production value. The performance ain't too great either.
I hope this answers some of your questions. I like the game. It's different and has this mass of raw potential. I enjoy the setting as well, it has this Bram Stokery feeling. The choices of guns are impeccable, helping tremendously with the immersion.
From the game's menus it seems a leaderboard is in the works and mode which will allow for teams of 4. I'm looking forward to that!

The game could definitely be fun if it wasn't the worst performing game ever.
Maybe some day, if ever. Seems to be a trend these days to ignore optimization until it's too late and game is dead already because people got tired of the freezes, frame drops and all around horrible performance of the game regardless of what settings you use.
