Yeah this is the combined first and second part of a planned trilogy of chapters, first two parts ended up being merged together due to extended development time but there is still a third part coming to conclude the story.
EDIT: Ah I see in the topic now that they choose a pretty poor way to break the story and it concludes pretty abruptly, that's not the best decision there.

Good i hear about that now means i don't even need to continue the game till the story is complete but i definitely feel a bit cheated i really didn't know that and wouldn't have bought the game yet if i had known.

Lack of communication outside of the Warhorse forums and Kickstarter progress updates feels like it's been a thing with this game, I might have backed the game myself but I haven't followed the backer updates all that closely either so I had to do some reading up on the state of things when I heard it was coming out because I wasn't sure if this was the full game now or still chapter based.
As it turns out it's a bit of both but having the first two chapters merged and the final part coming out later. Episodic gaming is problematic and that should have been more clearly communicated since as that topic points at other players were also surprised by this.
Personally I guess there wasn't a budget for it but just delay it again and make a complete story would have been better, get the bugs and such fixed up too as well with another year or so if that's what it is going to take, guessing the publisher and their own financial situation might not have allowed for doing anything like that though.

Worst thing is it's the same fucking quest you get at the start of the game. What's even the point of having it when you can't complete it?
There must have been a door there in the wall, when I came in.
Truly gone fishing.

Welp. They should at least have some sort of closure.
Maybe move the fight with Runt for the end of the episode and you get the sword back instead of what they did here.
This should have been communicated in the Steam page though. What are people supposed to expect if it's not there.
Idiot fanboys on Steam are also blaming people for not doing research. Like wtf? If it's episodic, that should be a big glaring sign on the store page. One would expect all key info presented on Steam, no need to go dig up threads on the WH forums looking for some post from 2 years ago.

The game engine is reloading itself whenever you change the sys_spec_ commands which is what altering these presets do, no way around it for how Cry-Engine works though a SSD will lower the amount of time the reload takes.

Playing this game feels like entering a time capsule, it brings back all the cozy things that originally made RPGs so immersive without any of the silly AAA-powered oversimplifications and arcadeSoft-y expedients to make the player feel awesome® at all costs. I haven't progressed much (only ~9 hours in - most of which spent dicking around), but both the story and evolving core gameplay/combat show a lot of promise, having often the freedom to pick multiple ways to achieve a simple objective is also a great sight to see. Warhorse did damn well when it comes to the unique atmosphere, with believable characters, attention to details, realistic physicality (without being a chore), the general sense of being right there living the simple folk's life is excellent.
Alas, it really is impossible to ignore the current technical side of the voyage here, there are AI routines that behave like they're coming from having spent way too many nights inside the tavern draining strong Bohemian beers in company of shady wenches, guards showing symptoms of bipolar disorders mixed with Alzheimer, and then there's the performance which is suffering from schizophrenia when one least expect it (High settings with shaders/shadows on Medium seems to be the most acceptable compromise for my peasant rig, even though it's still a constant Cry for help). Haven't encountered any serious life-threatening bugs yet, but I too will give Henry some more time to settle , it's definitely needed at the moment. The game is a true gem in my opinion, though it's up to the Vavramen to iron out its quirks and make it shine properly.

Again this is some important information they should have provided to buyers, as it is the game which is sold for full 50 bucks is exceptionally buggy, runs like complete shit and doesn't even have an ending yet despite them saying it would be complete if EA for example pulled something like this the internet would rightfully explode, i really don't see why they deserve a free pass in this regard even as a indie, Hello games pulled something similar with NMS and they where almost crucified.
Don't get me wrong i still like the game for what is and defended it where it deserved it but i definitely can't ignore this.

The game ends without resolving the main quest and the last part is planned as a DLC?
I really hate it when games end in cliffhanger there is really nothing worse and i remember they did say bevore release they scrapped the episodic format and the game would be complete and now this? |
Wait what? I'm supposed to get through this buggy mess only for it to end in an DLC?
FUCK THAT. |
Well it wouldn't be so bad if they actually said so bevore release i still remember this interview that was just linked on Reddit:
https://www.pcgamer.com/kingdom-come-deliverance-developer-already-has-sequel-planned/
Quote: | In conversation with GameWatcher, Warhorse's PR person Tobias Stolz-Zwilling talks to this point while also pointing to a future sequel. "It was necessary to split the game to put smaller 'parts' on the Kickstarter," he says. "This however, isn’t up to date anymore. We already reshuffled this idea and will release a regular RPG title: Kingdom Come: Deliverance, with a closed story. The next game will be 'Kingdom Come 2' (not official name) and will offer a new story, map and more." |
It definitely feels a bit shady considering this. |
Goddamit there's nothing i hate more than cliffhangers. Putting all those hours in just to at the end have a nice fuck you, wait a year until we decide to release the real ending.
For a 50 euro game that's just bullshit. By the time they fix up the game and make the new DLC i will have moved on.
The more i play, the more tedious everything is getting. The bugs and especially some design decisions are starting to become annoying as fuck. I will admit though the game has a certain charm, so they did do that right.

They are getting an insane free pass tbh. GFX downgrade, buggy mess, incomplete story, very weird performance fluctuations...
I think everyone is just so shocked it actually decent (i know i am)
