I read that if you let 24h pass, you can talk to them, then the woman gives the quest to cure her husband or so

What kind of quest is that?
I don't had that one yet.

Talk with the bailiff in Rattay, he's giving the quest. But be careful, don't take the quest before The Queen of Sheba’s Sword:P

The quest giver for the sword is the swordsmith in Sasau I believe. I came across it after the bailiff mission, and that sparked my interest again about one of the rewards I was promised by the villagers. I thought it was just bs because there's no magic in the game, but I guess there's a sword after all.

Whoops, I guess I let that one expire. The next time I ran into her I asked her how the water carrying was going, and she said it was pointless now because her husband was dead.

That was the first quest that pissed me off a bit, unless you get the exact right combination the bailiff will be annoyed with you and you also won't get the rewards from the people. I'd already done this quest before getting the sword quest so no idea that it was linked.
Also, I understand the timed quests even if I don't like them, just wish they were signposted a bit more or at least given a bit of warning before they fail.

You sure its many ingame days? After a few i come back, talked to Melchior and asked him how are the villagers. That was it. Don't know how many days but maybe 3?
I'm yet to encounter a bugged quest. Most of the problems with quests were caused by me, not doing something before the conclusion or ignoring a quest for too long. |
Yea i'm pretty sure it was at least 5 days.
I haven't talked to Melchior yet. Went to the city nonetheless yesterday, and didn't even saw him.
Will visit it again, maybe i missed him somewhere. |
So, talked to Melchior again. Even though his dialogue options were already greyed out, i was now able to finish the Pestilence quest.
The main quest still didn't change a bit, and i can't even talk anymore to Radzig.
Just awesome.
Now the wait and hope for 1.3 begins.

Can you learn any Hungarian? I seem to remember in one of the dev videos Henry dressing up as a Cuman and bluffing his way past the guard by answering in Hungarian.

I think so? Though I haven't yet done the quest myself:
 Spoiler: | one of the millers needs you to interrogate a captured cuman, and first step in it (which is how far I got) is to find a guy who can speak the language. |

The carriers don't work for the trader, only the cook. You can find them carrying a bucket of water from the river on the south to the Rathaus (not sure, didn't follow them all around but I saw them going to the "city center".
Haven't seen where the shit carriers are going from and to but there is a small door leading outside the town behind the Blacksmith and knowing they shouldn't be seen much near other people I think that's where they go.

Nah, I did that quest. When it first popped up I though the same thing, but it turned out there was no option to learn it yourself.

I already stole one part of that sword the first time i arrived in Rattay.
Never ever found a quest giver for that. But knowing my luck, the quest is probably broken anyways, since i already stole one part. |
Pickman gives one piece of the sword as a reward for giving him a water carrying job. Apparently, if you don't have the sword quest (it's from Sasau) and if you don't ask Pickman to pay you to get him a job, you won't get that piece. I'm in this shitty situation and there's nothing I can do, the piece is not on him... |
Well, I can tell you that the sword is extremely underwhelming... dunno if that eases the pain though

Yeah I gave up when I heard the sword was crap (and I switched to maces anyway). But I think I'm in the same boat as Nodrim, as I did the carrying quest first and didn't ask for a reward, being a good little Christian. You'd be better off just skipping that quest and grabbing St George's sword from the camp north-east of Neuhof (or one of the lower tier swords from the various treasure chests).

Maces are definitely better, I swapped to them as well. Swords are pretty much useless against fully armored enemies and all weapon types perform well enough against lower "level" enemies anyway.

That chest is a fucking dev-chest the dipshits forgot to remove though.
The legit way of obtaining St.George's is to "get it" from your buddy Hans.
There is also a chest in Merhojed that was tied to a removed Swordsmith NPC... but they forgot to remove the chest which has his full inventory...

the woman you talk about will carry water in my game, but I gave the shit carrying to the old owner of the mine. He looked pretty convinced by the double pay, but wouldn't really admit it because it's below his standing, so I choose in his place
