best way to optimize the look of this game is the resolution modifier, looks incredible at 160%, though i use 140% now. Comes at a really intense FPS hit.

Can you get rid of those preorder / DLC weapons you get with the CPY release?

Is there no running WTF?!
A mount is barely any faster than on foot.

I'm playing on keyboard.

It takes a while for a mount to build up speed, foot -> camel -> horse -> carriage (Once unlocked through a skill.) far as I've tested myself the quality of the mount is mostly appearance related much like how outfits have no real difference on Bayek's stats and instead it's down to upgrading your various accessories and equipment. (Shields for example.)

The mount moves slowly only if you're near / in a settlement. It will gallop only if you're in the wild. I guess they didn't want you to run people over.

Okay, now i understand the mount speed.

But on foot: Can't you run? It was possible in all recent AC games IIRC.

I still keep trying but Bayek either dodges or just does a attack if you try, walk and jog seem to be the only speeds on foot for whatever reason.
(You can do short bursts of speed underwater though but the air supply is well it's exhausted out back as a way to propel you forward faster I assume.)

EDIT: The carriage at least has a decent speed from the get go but it takes a while to acquire and well it can't turn very well at all. (And after so many citizens "moving" out of the way the game gets pissy about it.)

EDIT: Chariot actually I guess, you can just steal ones placed in the world too such as what the caravan guys use.
(Certainly deserve it for all the times they go right by where you are when you try to interact with a merchant and someone in the group goes "Latin word for video-game protagonist here." shout and they all attack unprovoked.)

(Well usually it's "Clear the way!" but you can be right up behind the merchant and occasionally they'll still engage in combat, must be the skin color.)

@Bob Barnsen They removed the button for running, running is essentially pushing the stick forward to the max. Much better anyway.

Figured it was the DRM, people always said it was related to VMProtect right?

The game itself is that CPU intensive? Shit.

The "crack" is only a bypass, Denuvo and VMProtect are still active.

The "crack" to get rid of crazy CPU usage is to remove all people, ships and animals from the world.

Obviously you think that Assassins Creed Origins has the same people/animals/ships etc as something like Fallout 4, which is mostly a dead world with no real pathfinding/AI.

The lack of appreciation for it is a shame because this is why we are stuck with Fallout 4 which is just Morrowind heavily modified.

And yes Origins might have some actual gameplay problems thanks to Ubisoft, but the world and engine is next gen compared to most other games.

So on the keyboard i must press the W key down to the max then.
Thanks, will try it later.

Nah on keyboard I think you just go from min speed to max speed rather than gradually going from walking (Which with a keyboard it's a separate key.) to the light jog as you would from analogue input used from most gamepads compared to digital on/off with a keyboard. Smile

Splinter Cell is one of the few exceptions where you use the mouse scroll wheel to gradually adjust walk speed which otherwise it tends to be walk/run on PC with a mouse+keyboard setup and walking is generally a modifier key such as shift. (Or sprinting, sometimes both with different keys.)

@JBeckman
IIRC MGS5 allowed to change running speed with the mousewheel too or?
Or it was a key that allowed to switch between different speeds.

Could have been, as I remember it though it was crawling, sneaking, walking, running and sprinting.

Crawling being for when you're going prone, sneaking for when the player is crouching, walking via one button, running as the default and then another button for full sprinting but it's also really loud.

EDIT: Which I guess presents issues on analogue input as well, press to hard and Big Boss is now Big Loud Boss suddenly sprinting through the encampment and everyone is alerted. Razz

There's a button you can spam, but I don't remember which it was. Maybe "Space"? On a controller they say it's "square". Spamming that button is meant to make the character pat himself down to stop the fire faster.

Hm, i didn't see anything popping up when i burned.
I will try pressing evade next i burn. grinhurt

Also, i just noticed Bayek has a very similar mouth scar like Ezio:

Is it just a coincidence, or are they somehow connected?

So, regarding performance ePenis.
I guess Alexandria is the place to bench?

With nearly everything maxed i get mostly 60fps there. Though depending on where i look, and especially when using the Hawk, i get dips down to nearly 40fps.

Laughing Dude, most of controllable characters in AC had the scar in the same place . Altair, Ezio, Desmond, and now Bayek.

Desmond is a direct descendant of Altair and Ezio though (and not because they were playable characters and some kind of gimmick.....), Bayek was never mentioned to be connected to him in any way.

So you may as well stop lol-ing and accept the fact it's a valid question/thought.

Man, fighting with a warhammer is so fucking satisfying. Very Happy
You can really feel those weapons pack a punch, and the feedback on hit enemies is great.
Also those brutal finishers.

Game really starts to stutter for me after a few hours of playing though, or when i alt+tabbed to the desktop for more than some minutes.
I guess it's a problem when playing from a HDD. But sadly i don't have enough space on my SSD left currently. Embarassed

Technically it's meant to trigger from a closer distance and hit in the head, I've never had it happen like that thought.
(It's usually the stomach or torso, and this.)

(You can see the blood FX coming from the head in the above URL though it could just be a Hotshots 2 moment I suppose and the walnuts are making their grand escape. Razz )

Are you sure? I also had a few scenes where the head was smashed.
