The Outsider (2018)
7-/10
+ great setting
+ some nice acting
+ Leto (although there was no point in getting him to play this role..any other actor would do just fine)
- the script is generic and not very interesting.
1) Lenovo Legion 7 (AMD Ryzen 7 5800H, RTX 3080 16Gb, 32Gb DDR4, SSD 1TB +2TB
2) SFFPC (streaming via Moonlight+ Sunshine)

The Last Jedi.
Robbed of a Skywalker redemption movie. Completely unnecessary second act and a waste of the characters. 5.5/10.

Good luck in all of us actually ever enjoying the third. Just bastardizing our childhood with this tripe. Just meant these days to sell toys and be inclusive just because.

Star Jedi: The Last Phantom Menace
How is Jedy formed? How Thalasiren get pragnent? I was fooling myself into thinking that having zero expectations this time around could lead to a positive surprise but...unfortunately, the alien boobs only had Mountain Dew left
Episode VII was fairly disappointing for me in almost every department, but despite the (insane ) rehashing, doubts regarding the new roles and lack of good ideas, in the end I was still okay with seeing more of it, hoping for some needed improvements. After this Episode VIII though, I'm not so sure about that anymore..there seems to be just barren saline land ahead.
The biggest culprit is the writing, completely failing at producing charm and at giving the characters interesting layers, with awkward comedic moments and an usage of the force that's inconsistent and breaks the rules of the universe just for the sake of it. Driver and Isaac are good actors in my opinion, Boyega has potential to unleash and teh Daisy is alright, but their characters are often so insipid that as soon as the beloved very cool nostalgic effect vanishes, there's little in this new official saga that's capable of keeping the interest alive. I liked the cinematography here, grumpy Luke and the rare sparks of quality where randomness ensues, all the remaining cheap tricks to milk the nextgen Star Wave..not so much. Then again, the Disneyland show must go on, even though it's resembling a feeble off-key Cantina horn. 5,5/10

Coco in 3D - 9/10
Thanks Pixar, you make me shed man-tears once in a while, but whenever it's happening, I'm done. In a very good way.
About the 3D, usual Pixar ways. No popouts (I remember a couple times tho) but splendid 3D depth rendering. The crowd scenes were particularly impressive.

Star Wars Last Jedi - 6.5/10
It's only getting this much because I give one bonus point for some nice visuals. The writing overall was just bad. Plotlines seemed kinda random or turned out to be pointless failures. And there are too many characters. I guess it has been analyzed to death already.
Makes Phantom Menace look like a masterpiece in comparison. Suddenly I miss the Podraces, child Anakin and even fucking JarJar.

Bunch of boring nonsense. Some good cgi action thats bout it. Not worth the time. 2.5 hours for that? Yeesh |
tried for the 3rd time watch, i felt asslep again during the movie, even for a starwars fan, i cant see any interest in those caracters.

Doesn't help that it's absolutely horribly written, some soaps are even better than this.
The only memorable scene was Luke drinking alien cum.

Really enjoyed this comedy, i liked it even better then Jumanji, and i thought that movie was good as well. |
it was impressively done. From tilt shift photography, to the creep. It was all thought out.
Saw it last night, give it a solid 8.5/10

Annihilation - 7/10
Better than the book (mostly because it has only setting and heroes from it and the most coherent parts of the plot). Very slow burn and definitely not a spectacular movie.
It's more of a Roadside Picnic/Stalker meets Lovecraft kind of movie.
I felt like it lacked something, probably in terms of script/world and some scenes could have been totaly cut out from the movie without much loss for its plot and for the benefit of its time and pace.
And it won't be a cult classic in a few years but I appreciate that it tried to be intelligent scifi/horror.

Annihilation - 6.5/10
Something was missing. I can't put my finger on it but it feels like there was this cool idea that was sunk by the writer trying to flesh out the idea with people, events etc. and going in the wrong direction. I don't know. Pity though, some of the scenery and style was really cool.

Annihilation (2018)
6.5+-/10
Worse than ex-machina... And it was really dumb to make a female only team..utterly unrealistic considering the circumstances. And they were so stupid, undisciplined etc that it was no wonder that shit happened to them. Tbh I was more interested in seeing what had happened to the previous teams... The writing and the story were kinda meh.. CGI was cheap.. The idea was nice but the writers fucked it up.

I think it was trying to be too accessible for your regular comic book movie viewer for its own sake. There was mystery but never felt like mystery. Most things were explained in the end and I don't have the warm feeling to solve anything or read up on this movie.
I appreciate that it Spoiler: | had this alien entity that had blue and orange morality and they didn't try to anthropomorphize it | .
But they could cut the end short of 30 seconds and made it better ending already.
Also the loosing time at the beginning of the journey felt like forfeit idea from the book and was never explained. Well I can theorize about it but I think they changed the script from the plot of the book and forgot about it.

Spoiler: | Lol. You are right. They could solve it with two sentences but if you want to know every team was a control group with different set of characteristics to see if the zone X can react differently to it. In book her husband wasn't the only one who came back from the shimmer. |

Annihilation - fuckthehump/10
A wonderful experience. In times where the average sci-fi flick uses spandex or mechanical parts to the nth degree it is refreshing to flesh out a parallel, organic twisted world like this. Sure, it had some slapthefuckoutofwriter moments, Spoiler: | like when the latina screams "this is an optical illusion" | but overall it makes you think if all of this wasn't about a classic sci-fi metaphor, Spoiler: | the alien shimmer metaphor of cancerous cells, to cleanse our damaged world and society and turning it into something else. I've felt sadness and incomprehension in those Doppleganger-Portman eyes just when the real (?) Portman exited the lighthouse door. Some strong flair of Under The Skin with the Doppleganger, too. Which is nice. |
Also, visually and sonically was close to perfect. Kudos for adding Moderat in one of its best scenes, oh, and Hi! to the Sheppard bear!

Star Wars Last Jedi: 8/10 Much better than prior ones. Better than the reviews. Ray is hot..Nice seeing the old timers back. Adam (bad guy) will always be remembered from Girls..good actor! Nice effects (especially that large head bad guy), plenty of action. Go see it!

Annihilation - 3/10
Once again I picked a wrong movie to watch while drinking. Still, I didn't enjoy this at all.
I thought it was a boring and pretentious drag of a a movie. The idea was somewhat interesting but it was full of pointless dialogue and uninteresting characters.

Is there a release for Annihilation?

So 2 out of 7 humper reviews being negative = majority of bad reviews??
