Everything you need to know about Valve's Artifact: "The whole point is to steer away from pay-to-win"
Quote:
Valve are tossing their hat into the ring of digital card games based on popular game franchises. Following in the footsteps of The Elder Scrolls: Legends, Gwent, and Hearthstone, Valve are making a card game out of the mechanics and lore of Dota 2, their immensely popular MOBA. The result is Artifact: The Dota Card Game, which was announced on August 8 at The International 2017 with an exceptionally brief teaser trailer and vague release date. At a recent press event, Valve opened the doors on Artifact
Richard Garfield, the creator of Magic: The Gathering and Netrunner among other things is the designer behind the game.
TWIN PEAKS is "something of a miracle."
"...like nothing else on television."
"a phenomenon."
"A tangled tale of sex, violence, power, junk food..."
"Like Nothing On Earth"
"The whole point is to steer away from pay-to-win"
but we'll be firmly rooted in pay-to-play..
They have to make money somehow of course.
I would rather play a pure pay-to-play card for like 20$ with 1 or 2 expensions a year. This is better then a f2p one like hearthstone (I quited hearthstone when I realized a 300$ investment to get started, or grind for 6 months for 1 competetive deck)
Artifact still requires you to collect cards so it seems so you'll probably have to grind or pay for cards, that sucks.

problem is the game will do well earl< on in salescause all them dota boys have tons of steam wallet cash so not really spending their own money on it, but the fact the game isnt free to play, is gonna fuck it up the ass hard, it looks boring as fuck and wont have single player ...

Chose one of the above for the excuse
As for the game itself, not really into these card games that much. Gwent is fun for a while but really hasn't that much staying power

You can play regular matches with the AI, contrary to Hearthstone ( save for Dungeon Runs ) - there's also a AI-driven tutorial that teaches you the basics by providing you the best play and explaining it to you, if I got it right.
Why do you assume Dota 2 players have got "tons of steam wallet cash" ? If anything, I'd bet on the opposite
Oh wow, such incredible footage of shuffling some cards around.
Honestly, is anyone even excited for this game?
Well, it's made by Valve, so if I ever play any card game ever in my life, this will probably be it.
So, better than nothing.

Another card game? Booooring. I am bored that it exists, I know I can just ignore it and not play it but I am literally more bored now that I know they are spending money and time on this.
A 19 minutes match, and the players could have easily taken more time it seems. Red was getting crushed and there was still 15 min on the clock at the end, while more turns means even more playtime. This is to long for a card game. Also, playing against a slow player will be tedious, more so cause they have 3 boards to think everyting over again.
I will try the game, but I think it's not for me.
