Dishonored is not a Bioshock clone, it is a stealth game where you ride a power fantasy by teleporting, slaughtering enemies, throwing their bodies around, spawning rats to attack them etc.

With an interesting story. Its guns are reasonably meaty as well.

Dishonored has a story?
I don't think there are games we can call Bioshock clones, but Dishonored is a shock-esque game.

? not really, but if you say Far cry 5 is a doom clone then yeah, Dishonored is surely shock-esque.
(and of course you have all the rights to say that)
(but I think closer to the thief series for example)

How is Dishonored not a shock-esque game? You get a set of weapons and powers which mix well with each other providing the means for creative approaches for the situations at hand. The maps are confined, however large enough to avoid linearity and induce a sense of exploration and discovery. Last but not least, a system of upgrades is giving more options to the player, further enhancing the creativity of the gameplay. This is a recipe introduced by System Shock, further popularized by Deus Ex and refined into different states by various games like Bioshock, Dishonored, etc.

I guess it requires some tension/horror aspects. For me Bioshock = claustrophobic horror in a dystopian setting.

There must have been a door there in the wall, when I came in.

I remember when this thread was created and I was like "ah, there's no real info, whatever". Now, I see it being 2 pages long, and I'm like "wow, I guess the reveal forced them to properly announce it, clicky click it fast!"

......

Nope, it's just the hump humping

The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.

Will be interesting to see what the setting and time period for this one is.
Futuristic space would just make it system shock though whether it's Shodan or Sho'daddy.

Well nice to see the franchise continuing whatever form this little Sequel Shock will take. Razz

Well, we won't play it for another 2-3 years or so. Meanwhile we have System Shock remake (after rebooting the development) and System Shock 3 under development.

The first (leaked) screenshot/concept would suggest a new art direction vaguely inspired by Borderlands, alongside the return to proper immersive sim-y roots and with plenty of surprises for the player. Looks promising on paper!

Bioshock 2 = excellent
Bioshock Infinite = excellent

It wasn't as good as the first one, undoubtedly, but it was still excellent IMO.

It was the epitome of 360 console crap port. Bad graphics (way worse than the first—despite it being the same engine), much lower fov, bad performance, G4WL, story had no originality and was really bad in my opinion. And that's just the SP. The MP was Laughing . It was really disappointing to me.

Well I never count MP into anything, but the rest I don't disagree with -- it was visually less superior (didn't they drop the DX10 features?) and the GfWL trash is abominable, yet... the story was great and I enjoyed the mix up of gameplay with plasmids and weapons.

Right, MP is not something I care about. Especially with SP heavy games that tack on MP, like RDR2 and this.

I will always take SP over MP, any day of the week and twice on Sundays. I hate tacked on MP -- especially with the likes of GTA/RDR since it's obvious where all post-launch focus is and that just ruins everything IMO Sad

Ahh, even Bioshock infinte was a huge letdown for me. Sad
(And I was/am a big Bioshock fan)

No visual weapon upgrades
No HUB like levels, more like COD styled gameplay, level themes are gone
Tonics are the same stuff
2 weapon limit
no Ammo types
no Uinvent
no Photograph?
but yes, you get the stupid girl, too much effort, where you stumble into 10 percent of them (Wait at this spot, see how our Elizabeth reacts here if you wait 10 mins? great, isnt it?)

And yet i was fool to order the CE, the guidebook, ArtBook of this piece of shit.

If i had to choose give me bio2, where its more of the same, im fine with that.

Oh don't get me wrong, please, none of them are "perfect" (well, Bioshock 1 was pretty damned close....) and I acknowledge that all three have their issues, but I still think they were excellent games Smile
