Played around 10 hours and so far a standard 7/10 UBI Far Cry. Same old, same old and slowly starts to get boring.
At least looks pretty and tried something new with preppers' shelters.

Thats unfortunately the case for many shooters. I wish theyd spend some time on at least slightly realistic ballistics.

Again this surprises me, seeing as in GR Wildlands, you can shoot more or less through walls etc. depending on the penetration power of your weapon. And you can always fire through a linked fence lol.

That is strange because I shot a couple of cultist throught wood in Far Cry 5 but I don't know if it's a feature or a bug. LOL

Different engine, different developers.
But yeah it's kind of lame how bullets won't penetrate some crappy plywood that the goons are ducking behind. Fortunately I always carry an RPG so I can blow them the fuck away just out of spite.

I think the armor piercing bullets go through walls and such.

Weapon penetration is sadly often crap in todays shooters, especially in those "AAA" ones.
Realistic features like that are what can improve the fun-factor.

I had a similarly confusing experience. I attacked an outpost and there was a cultist hiding on a floor over me, his only protection was a thin sheet of wood over the railing. I tried shooting at him and it did work, he died. With that said I remember trying the same thing a different time and not getting a kill. I would need to test again with armor piercing bullets tho, to see if that's the explanation. I typically do use them while assaulting outposts, so maybe that's the reason why. A bug would sound more likely (maybe his model clipping through the wood), but it should be quick to test.
Edit: I've tried some tests with armor piercing, but I can't get it to go through materials yet. I haven't seen a wooden plank cover like I did previously, but I've tried other wooden structures + thin metal sheets and no penetration.

Finished this in about 30 hours. What a dumb game. It's supposed to make you feel compassion for almost everyone but I couldn't care less and just wanted everyone to die and stop bothering with their pathetic stuff. In the first few hours I was reading what people say but approximately 90% all missions' stories were essentially just "peggies came and took X person/s or item, Go and find the X and kill the peggies." or "defend this location" and I just skipped every dialogue after that. At least the prepper stashes were interesting and probably the only good thing in the game. Clutch Nixon were also okay missions tho too easy. The Seeds were annoying like some dumb 9 year old kid who wants to teach you about life. The boss fights were so irritating especially the last one. Also there are only 4 types of enemies total with just different looks - melee guys, ranged guys, snipers, flying things. Animals differ only by passive or aggro and smelly skunks. 90% of the skill trees add nothing to the gameplay other than more of the same. I tried almost all weapons but they also felt nearly the same so I shot 70% of the time with the same sniper and 20% with the same SMG. The graphics are decent but perhaps too oversaturated. The ending/s are clear since the first few minutes. The cutscenes are stupid and overall the whole plot and those kidnappings make very little sense.
Out of the last 20 games I played in the past 2 years this is the worst one only after Attack on Titan 2.

@Ampee
I actually really liked FC3. And while FC4 started to be worse again, i still finished it.
Ubisoft seems to focus more and more on the open-world aspect, while not improving gameplay by that much, and also forgetting to implement somekind of interesting narrative.

I don't play too often. As I wrote that's my 20th game in past 2 years. Wanted to play a shooter as that's the best genre to both relax and kill some tension and Far Cry 5 is the most recent one. It's having good scores and I was hopeful it will be good enough. It's still a FPS and usually it takes 10 minutes with them to know if it's a totally abysmal and this one is a decent 6/10 for me.
Anyway, it's a pleasure to meet someone who never wasted a single hour in their life and is a proper billionaire now.

Gave far cry 3 a try in the past 2-3 weeks but gave up on friday.
Game and gun play is but mission variety is crap, couldn't care less about the characters and there aren't many reasons for exploring. Cleared the 3 (or 4) top regions of the map and had pretty much all 2nd best gear upgrades already, sure as hell won't waste my time getting the crap statues.
How this game was so big and on so many goty lists I'll never understand

Is there a way to see how many medkits you have and how many armor you have left. When you are not in combat?

Kinda.
I think this is way better then 4 though. Doesn't feel like a reskin, and also this whole county setting is very appealing to me.
Also this one has the most vehicles to date.
Also the OST/Radio music is top notch.

I don't like not having stats for said vehicles though, I can see there's 3x attack helicopters for example but without testing each one you wouldn't know their specs (They do differ a fair bit and not just the "prestige" painted editions of them.) and this also holds for the airplanes but while helicopters have the same armaments you can't even tell if the airplane has bombs or just machine guns and there's at least two different machine gun types. (One is kinda like a machine gun, other one is more of a chaingun.)

Testing on animals, it seems every one point increase in the damage stat of weapons doubles the damage. So a 6dmg revolver is twice as powerful as a 5dmg pistol. How's that for completely arbitrary?

Yeah the stats on weapons are incredibly limiting and so many weapons have similar stats but might be different when actually used even if there's a lot of samey stuff and much of the equipment you'll likely stick with can be unlocked very quickly.
