Hopefully we'll be able to install to the switch like we can with the wii u. The load times with loadiine for certain games is unbearable.

once backup games can be played from SD card, I will purchase a Switch.. This will go well with my modded Wii and the soft-modded Wii-U..I need to play the new Rampage game..not the 1980's version on the Wii.

I wouldnt wait if you're going for it anyway. It's happening and that seems to be a fact. The only issue is stores restocking switches with new and "improved" switch versions where this can't be done.

I was about to post that myself. I remember posting on herd last year saying that the first Switch games had been dumped and then with all the progress just lately, I went to find them and struggled with a lot of them.

there won't be a revision till late this year.
But access will be the same.
This may go the ds route.
Hardware sales will skyrocket.
Software sales will dip a little.

I don't think it's that much of a hard time for Nintendo.
Most people who wanted the Switch got it already and bought their games. Then some will pirate them, but for sure not everyone.
Also they will launch their online services so some people won't pirate just to be safe.
I think the only bad thing out of this is that some 3rd party will threaten Nintendo to drop support, a la Ubisoft "we don't do PC games or use DRM because of piracy".
See how the Wii U failed ? Thankfully it wasn't pirated until it was dead, else people would have blamed piracy. Like the Dreamcast and PSP

You'll have to short 2 pins from the right rail or joycon directly. You don't need to take it a part to access the pins. I shorted them with a paperclip.

PS3 and 360 was also hacked to hell and beyond, yet they didn't stop developing games for those consoles.

Eeeeh not quite. The PSP and DS suffered quite a lot from piracy. With the DS, the cards were dirt cheap and everyone I knew who had a DS, had such a card. With the PSP, half the ones sold on eBay were hacked at the time.
Also, the Amiga never went down due to piracy - the system was a success in Europe and the A500 lasted SEVEN years before the PC took over. Since Amiga didn't get a cut from software sales, piracy only boosted sales of Amigas and the Amiga as home to some really famous software studios who moved to PC after the A1200 pretty much failed and the PC turned out to be way more powerful and impressive.

I might pick up a second switch once cfw is done.
Even if revisions are out by then, better hardware for primary and older switch for modding \o/
Best bet right now if you own a switch, want one for modding, wait for pricing to drop, revised system with a bit more features and use that as a primary. There'll be a price drop this year.

Nintendo doesn't need a boost in Switch sales, they are already doing real fine.
Piracy isn't gonna be something to be happy about for them, but it won't bring them down, that's for sure.

They've been working on a switch successor since switch was of to production.
That's not news. They won't announce a new console at least 3 years in.
They may announce a revision, more features, or less features, or cheaper just dock version w/o the handheld bit. But a new console won't make it into the scene until at least 2020.
And given that 4k HDR is meant to be standard by 2020, it may be a 4k console.

Yep people always act so surprised that companies start planning the next console right after releasing one. Well thats how it fucking works, its a long process so you have to start with it right away,.
