It's basically a mix of unused clips from the trailer, and new footage.
The improvements:
More animations were added since MW. There are some nice effects like transparencies (in the wraith). The view distance is quite good. The sounds give better feeling to the scenes. In the still images, you can notice the detail seen inside the open mouth of a goblin, it really gives the impression of dimensionality/depth.
The issues:
Notice that most of the furniture don't generate shadows. Either because the video was taken from an old build, or it's part of the strategy to reduce the performance hit with shadows that they mentioned a few days ago. Also, the difference in quality between the creatures and the NPCs is quite large. The facegen truly made them look quite ugly, not to mention that the females have essentially the same mesh than the males, just with some small changes. The guy that appear in a bridge do look like a Northamerican cartoon (beavis&butthead I believe). Overall, the action does feel similar to an FPS though.
Since the video doesn't show much about the dialog or other more important features akin to an RPG, it's hard to get an overall impression about the game.

That video looks good, the combat has been improved alot the impact on your shield when you get hit and so on, looking really good.

I am downloading a 1,28 gb file called oblivion tech demo.When i got the torrent i took it from pirate
but in 2 hours it has vanished.It still is available on mininova.Anybody got it?Is it fake?It only downloads with 4-7k so i got to wait until monday to see if it's actualy the real thing.Many sites have already tested oblivion so it might actualy be good.

What you were downloading was the dvd vesion of the E3 video (with menus). Nothing new but it look nicer then the version you get from http://www.elderscrolls.com/home/home.htm

 There isn't such thing as a tech demo.
Like the guy above me said, its prob the high quality E3 demo or Gay porn which i hope it is.

is it so hard to believe that the demo they recived from bethesda has gotten out?

I bet they all played the demo with the people from Bethesda Softworks in a rented room. Something that happens allot when a developer made a new game to show it to websites and magazines.
This way the chance that a demo or game gets leaked is minimum. |

I can feel it....i get a quest, i have to fuck some monsters far away in the forest. After i fucked them i wanna go back to town but then it goes dark and it starts snowing or raining and i have to find a hut to survive the night.

I call bullshit, why would they remove the feature feature due to high requirements? Why can't just add an extra shadow detail option?
I believe they removed it because the Xbox 360 does not have the power to render it effectively and Microsoft does not want the PC version to show up the Xbox 360 version more then it already does (mods). That or because they ran into some development issues and didn't want to work it out.

The second shot is a capture from a b-roll given to a german gaming magazine. I don't think the game looks that bad, it's only that the capture is poorly taken. From all i read on that forum(over 1200 posts), the only shadows who have dissapeared are of the various tiny objects in the world(apples, glasses, etc), the rest of them are still there...The first picture was taken in a controlled environment(the E3 demo) wich doesen't have all that much objects in them, so the framerate there is pretty good, but when u have 200 itsy bitsy objects in one place, and expect them to all have shadows thrown out by 4 lighting objects, and still have more than a slideshow for a game, u need to get realistic...Not all of us have SLI 7800's...

The official statement from Bethesda was something along the lines of that it would've been too much work for them to have two different systems for shadows. The old one was deemed too slow. So, therefore they scrapped the old, better system which was working amazingly well (like the old pic and the E3 demo vids show) and made a new system altogether.
Personally, I don't buy the explanation. And since I never was a fan of having _my_ gaming experience lowered because other people don't have the rig to run the game, I canceled my pre-order.
If you ask me, this is all because of the damn xbox360 and Beth's promise that the xbox version will look as good as the PC version with gfx maxed out. If the xbox can't do it, PC can't have the feature either.

So, *none* of the objects in the game world cast shadows. Only characters now. Which sucks.
