Of course, if someone lives near Sheffield in UK (7 hour drive for me), and wants to solve the matter on their own accord Wink, PM me for his address and postcode, which, on Google Maps, gives a clear view of his house. You can keep the card and/or money for your troubles Wink

I'll just get pleasure out of knowing deed is done Smile

So this guy is selling this game on ebay that I wanted for a long time. It's definitely not cheap but according to the item description it is new and all pieces are still inside. But the pictures only show the box and tbh while it looks good, there are no pictures of the inside and the box shows signs of being used. I still want to bid on it. But if the item on arrival is missing any parts, can I file a claim with ebay and return it for refund? Guy has 17 ratings and all positive. Quite similar to me basically..

You're very well protected as a buyer on eBay. A fool proof way to protect yourself even more, is to film your unboxing. If the item is missing, then you have proof that it wasn't there when you opened it.

There's a popular video on Youtube of a guy that had the same thing happening to him with an iPhone he sold and his solution was to use a GoPro to take footage of him testing the item before boxing it up, also filming serial number etc. He put a disclaimer on his pages that every item has been properly filmed to discourage scammers and it does seem to work. It's no guarantee eBay would side with the seller but it does put off scammers.

eBay is a joke, though. It used to be great around 2005. Buyers and sellers were still on an equal level, the listings were still mostly local, prices were fair and you could often do really good deals, etc. But now ... it's 90% Chinese cunts selling all sorts of cheap crap, using popular key words meaning that whenever you type something in, you got to sift through 20 pages of shit. Even if you do find the right items, they're overpriced, shipping from all over Europe with ridiculous postage fees to be added. Very few bids either but instead "buy now" which means you're very unlikely to get a good deal. Belgians have long since fled the platform to "2dehands.be" which, ironically, is owned by eBay but is free and a lot more like the eBay of old.

Well, if you can't beat em, join em. Wink

I got my card back by doing the unthinkable, and as expected, ebay went with myself (this time me being the buyer).

Awful!, and I do feel guilty about it, I really do, but I had no choice, as I certainly wasn't gonna lose out on that one.

As long as they continue to support this practice, then be it on their own heads. I well know that two wrongs do not make a right, but I was not prepared to let this one go, as I, and my wife, did our best to resolve the situation beforehand.

Do I feel bad?, yes, of course I do, I feel awful, and it certainly was not the way I wanted it to be, and knowing life, I will pay for it in other ways, but there ya go.

Needless to say, the working card I have now, will not be sold on ebay, whatsoever.

Yes. I fucked someone else over to get the card back that had been scammed from me. So I pass the buck.

Like I say, nothing to be proud of, but I sure wasn't losing out on a perfectly good card, and as long as they allow it, well, that is their problem.

Not good at all, but it is what it is. I've been around long enough to know who cares and who don't - eBay/Paypal dont, so if they let it happen easily to me, then they can let it happen easily to someone else, and so on...

If that is their business practice, then they can deal with it, although, I certainly do not agree with any of it.

You are the scum of the earth, just like the other guy who scammed you. And you didn't "get the card that had been scammed" from you. You just scammed some total stranger who had nothing to do with it. So if someone shoots your dog, you'll just go ahead and shoot the next dog that looks similar to yours to even out karma?

Some mental gymnastics you are doing there justifying your thievery.

I've been screwed over a few times myself by stores and I did get those stores back but when you screw over regular people ... that's a no go. You never know the situation of the other person you just screwed over - they may be far worse off than you and you just stole €700 from them. Doesn't matter if some other guy screwed you over.

Scara, no... that is wrong man.
I could have had some sympathy for it if you'd screwed over a company (they are insured) but some regular joe out there... nope.

Blame the shitty system, not the player.
Maybe they will fix it some day if enough people do this...

I wouldnt have taken a loss either, seems it is very easy to abuse the shitty

Oh we very much CAN blame the player. That "blame the system" thing only works when it comes to abusing faceless corporations or governments, it does NOT work for abusing regular people. By your logic, it's fine to break into homes and steal and loot because you'll only get a small prison sentence for it if you were to get caught.

But that is very dangerous, this has literally like almost zero risk due to how bad their system is.
