Isn't his stuff open source? I'm surprised someone hasn't released a DespecializedK that strips out his DRM.

That thing should be out since some time ago although the older projects are running on older versions of the core .dll and could still have traces of it.
(EDIT: There was a quite a bit of it when you compare the commits though I believe it's almost entirely removed by now.)

But yeah it's open source and for a while there even was a version that removed that sort of code though for the newer versions removing the Steam functionality from the settings file should be enough to undo any potential issues that could arise when it can't interact with the Steam client itself.

I just spent a solid 4 hours straight playing that cat-fight minigame. I can't remember the last time I was drenched in sweat from mashing buttons so hard while screaming at my screen.

My chick won a 40 to 1 odds bet of 50 million by coming back from a knockout, latching onto the schoolteacher bitch like a goddamn vampire, and judo chopping that neck - HOLY SHIT WHAT A RUSH!

Now, someone needs to do some heroic work and remove the outfits for the cat-fight girls in a mod! Then I'll be able to die happy! Very Happy

Still, have to laugh at pirates that got really REALLY pissed of with that Laughing

However

Part of the controversy lies in the idea that Kaldaien says he has developed a “blacklist” that prevents two Steam users from using his mod.

Don't be stupid./

Ok mom, but firstly you should check what sarcasm is.
The workaround to his "DRM" hit the web really quick so not sure what you're whining about.

He's doing great job, thanks to him I could enjoy Nier and FFXV. If those were some isoedemos I couldn't care less, but as a legit owner that guy is a hero to me.

BTW, back on the Yakuza - when the game opens up side activities? Is there some notification that I should start exploring the city? I'm just past the 1st chapter. I hope that I won't lockout some side stuff by doing the story missions for now.

It adds stuff chapter by chapter, don't worry about being locked out.
Later on you can explore all the places and do all the side activities till the very end of the game.
You can even continue playing the game after finishing the story and finish up all the side stuff.
Just do what you feel like doing.

Also, my advice for substories is to pick the absolute worst choices.

That's where substories shine.

For now I'm playing as a good little Paladin-Yakuza doing the right choice for altruistic reasons of noble...well I just want the best possible reward that is. Razz

Though I've certainly been tempted more than a few times to just go like "la la la save anywhere ON and then redo, redo, and that's all possible outcomes and done!" just to see how badly I can mess some of these up.

Maybe in a replay later on.
When my finger and hand musculature is back in shape because hell those boss battles can be a real hassle and the mini games can be almost as brutal really.

Hi I'm the boss for this chapter, at this stage I will QTE like crazy and at this stage of the health bar I'll go permanently into heat and will kick all the ass!

And then knockdowns, stun and being 30+ something and MALE (Dual tasking, WTF is that?) so yeah but somehow I've managed up to chapter 9 now and it's still enjoyable even if it's really challenging too at times. Very Happy
But that's fun too, just remember food and other healing supplies as needed and if stuff goes bad break out the DLC equipment and murder the bastard to just-about-dead but not really because suits make men indestructible in 1980's Japan. Very Happy

EDIT:
Well random screenshots aside I do enjoy the story overall to and it's various turns without being too ridiculous though I heard that's what the sequels veer into once those get ported over.

Drama, comedy and some goofier and some more serious moments and a nice little core cast of characters and their stories interweaving and making for a nice narrative for the game.

..And here's yet another random battle.
(But eh gives a nice amount of cash early on for injecting into skills and such which well it's going to be needed.)

EDIT: Ah yeah the screenshots aren't going to work since ABLoad.de blacklisted this website.

Yeah that was a good intro for what to expect, stocking up on restoratives comes in real handy and the DLC stuff from the shrine can be useful but they're a bit too powerful to just burn through early on.

Though getting CP (Character Points.) and upgrading your buffs via the park shrine a bit also helps slightly though it's mostly money and getting things like the health upgrades which stack across the different combat stances.
(Though early on you can't unlock all of them since the price ramps up significantly but can still get enough for a nice little boost.)

Enemies with melee weapons can be a real hassle though, knifes particularly but also random stuff like boards and what not and of course guns even if rare need to be dealt with as a priority since it's damage, knockdown and stun in one.
(Get hit a few times and it's about over, and if it's a multi fight gauntlet before the boss itself you need to have some restoratives handy or the boss is going to be a real pain.)

EDIT:
Knifes

Knives

Thanks spell-checker. So both are OK apparently. Well fuck it.
(Has to be the V one, that's how I usually remember it spelled at least.)

Yep. I'm like 30 odd hours in now, and that first boss encounter (that was like 7 fucking stages TO GET TO HIM), then the boss itself was the hardest thing in the fucking game so far. So much for pacing! Wish I had loaded up on like 20 health potions beforehand, would have made it much easier!

I think you still get the same reward regardless, though I'm not 100% sure as I never paid it much attention.

The only quests that comes to mind where the reward depends on your choice are the Michael Jackson ones I think. Where you decide whether to go with the big box or the small box. (Go big)

I was curious about the rewards as well so I did do one test with a side story I came across early about three meek dudes in a more rebellious band trying to act all tough and having to pick how these guys should act during the event when the fans get to ask them questions.

Three sets of dialogue choices and for that I got some accessory item initially by picking the first choices correctly but then I fumbled with one and things got more humorous but still considered a good outcome overall.

So a reload and trying again and getting them all right and for that the reward was a fur shirt though for now I can't find a use for the thing ha ha, accessories and such can be equipped but you can't change clothes until later in the game from how it seems so it's in the item box for now.
(Doesn't seem to have any stats and it's in the inventory unlike equipment items so it's either a outfit or it's a gift item for something I still haven't come across and I got it here instead of having to run to every store in the area and finding where it's sold.)

EDIT: Well some clothing seems to be used as accessories too, there's a store selling a shirt that increases fire defense and another increasing defense against electric attacks but they lower general defense as a trade-off and so far there's not been anything using either fire or electricity during fights.
(Stun guns and such I assume or it's entirely environmental.)

EDIT: Though in most cases it's smaller reward items or consumables so it's probably more fun to just go with whatever during these choices because you're not going to be missing much far as the reward goes. Smile
(And money is less of a concern in the later chapters when you have various means to really cash in.)
