I mean i hate Denuvo like the next guy but the only thing you actually accomplish with boycotting this is sending the massage that there is no market for Japanese games like that on pc.
While a boycott could in theory work for western publishers, Sega JP and the like will never actually get that it's about the DRM they are just stubborn like that and while i don't think that's always a good thing luckily the majority doesn't care anyway and buys the game regardless.

What a great game, now I can see what all the fuss was about
So far, the very 80s thriller main storyline is well-done with no cheap plot devices, and the substories are just.. great, albeit in a variety of tones which is a welcome change. The fighting mechanics are rewarding enough not to make it a chore. You gotta enjoy cutscenes and dialogue though, the game is very story-driven so far, I'm not past the introduction so I guess it'll get better, but I doubt it'll dramatically change.
I assumed this was a rather unique game, but it really seems to deserve a play-through.
I did get a random crash though, and I couldn't launch the game any more...
I changed the audio option in the .ini file ( AudioMode=1 ) in order to fix the sound which was crackling from time to time, and it happened to fix the crashing as well

I just can't get over how serious the guy is about everything.. karaoke.. slot car racing - just makes me chuckle everytime he whips his slot car out and holds it up in triumph
Great game. Reminds me of a less serious Sleeping Dogs. Definitely a shame no quality English dubbing though.. that would make some of the cutscenes a little easier to follow.

If you honestly think bullshit like Denuvo would go away in a world without piracy, I have a bridge to sell you. These shitty companies would love NOTHING more than to be able to resell you the same software repeatedly until the end of time because their wares are defective and only work for a certain period of time before their bullshit "security" methods prevent them from running. |

That's all Denuvo is about. Bean counters looked at PC gaming, realized that once someone buys a game it'll pretty much work forever, but they want that re-release money. This is one of the dirty, underhanded ways to get at it. They want you to be a powerless cripple without options.
If you buy software with this crap in it, they win. Man people are so stupid. PC gaming was so great and idiots are letting it slip away. |
Publishers can remove denuvo from games and thats what usually happens after some months

First of all why roam around in the yakuza 0 thread and participate in any discussion if your only point to visit is to see if yakuza got cracked or not?
What happens if denuvo servers go down?
Counter question: what happens if steam servers go down?
What happens if gog goes bankrupt?
Why do you buy games on steam?
If steam goes down out of a sudden your whole library will be gone in an instant. You will have nothing.
According to your logic no one should buy any games besides physical copies of console games that work offline without the online component.
What happens if software, because it's old, becomes incompatible?
Back in the day there was the starforce or safe disk copy protection that are partitally incompatible with windows 10.
What if online shooters wtihout dedicated servers take their servers down?
Same goes for games with windows live.
I doubt that you protested all these games that have said protections(steam uplay origin )
According to your logic: If you bought a single game with any copy protection or an online DRM like steam, Origin, Uplay or any multiplayer game without dedicated servers you are doing the same thing you critisize.
And as you said
wonkedoutweirdo wrote: | If you honestly think bullshit like Denuvo would go away in a world without piracy, I have a bridge to sell you. |
If you think that if denuvo would go away all companies would stop using any copy protection then I have a bridge to sell for you and as i said beforehand software(older copy protections regardless of if they have online servers or not) goes incompatible as mentioned above.
Besides that you can vote with your wallet if you want. You might think it's the right thing other ppl might not care at all or think otherwise. Lashing out on people won't change anyones mind.

I don't know the statistics but it seems to me that many developers/publishers sooner or later release a patch to remove Denuvo once the sales have petered down after release.

Nah they don't, at least not Japanese Publishers let's not kid ourselves, there are maybe 1 or 2 western publisher who did that in the past but the majority doesn't care and that won't change the dude is right Denuvo is cancer there is just no denying that, despite that i still think this is the wrong game to attack because of it.

not really only rarely and you can even look at previous work of Dnv devs aka Securom , its marked as Security risk under Win10 and guess what neither publisher not drm devs care to remove it

yep especially when its as cheap as it is
although i still thought about what to do with this one for quite while , as i wasnt really sure if i will like it , wanted to the SegaJPN PC ports (especially this one which kinda involves Atlus), but on other want dont want to support Dnv , luckily i got it for such cheap price that i can live with D (crack is inevitebale anyway in due time so my backuping addiction/paranoia/.... is fine, and Voksi cracks didnt werent really good enough for backup)

As long as the big D doesn't crash, slow down, or otherwise interfere with the game, I'm not entirely bothered about it - but I really think it should be removed after say 3 months. Let's face it, the only reason it's so despised is because we can't ISOdemo it - which is a whole different discussion.
Starforce was pretty bad as it was proven to cause physical drive damage, and was incompatible with many things. I'm just glad the age of needing a disk in a drive is long gone...

thing is you will never know if it does (and by definition of placing triggers on game fuctions it easily can bugg out if there is thousands or of them) , unless some insanely skilled cracker exposes it like in Sonic Mania case , as even if it does issues , they can easily mask it as gamebug and silently patch it .... in this case there are like 3 dnv hotfix/experiment depots for example ... but maybe i am just too paranoid

Yeah, I think it was Beyond Divinity (or one of the Divinity games) with Starforce that fucked up my CDR drive. I was really pissed because this was the era where you had to burn your porn.
So you know, in case the world ends due to nuclear war and there's no more internet, all I need is to find a cd drive and I'm sorted.
Oh wait different ports. Fuck.

He can come here look for updates on cracks.
But obviously the game isnt cracked yet so ppl mostly talk about the game itself since they ve bought it.
So why participate in any discussion that isnt related to the cracking if he is only here to look for info on the cracking progress. |
So unless you own the game you're not allowed to discuss it's protection etc.? |
sigh
Where did you read that? reread the sentence
i ll do an explanation if it is so hard to grasp:
What i meant was that everyone was talking about the games content until that guy showed up and said this:

Yep. I'm like 30 odd hours in now, and that first boss encounter (that was like 7 fucking stages TO GET TO HIM), then the boss itself was the hardest thing in the fucking game so far. So much for pacing! Wish I had loaded up on like 20 health potions beforehand, would have made it much easier! |

GOG is the only legitimate option to buy PC games digitally because there's no DRM and you can make your own backups.
Also, I stopped buying FPS games when they stopped releasing dedicated servers for them.
Software getting old is fine because you can always emulate it.
