Immortal: Unchained is a hardcore action RPG set in a dark, sci-fi universe - a unique take on a well-known sub-genre, blending a third-person action shooter with a hardcore RPG.

The game’s central character is unwillingly unchained and released by the warden. Given only the instruction that time is running out for the world and that your skills are now needed, you must set off with no memory of who you are or what you do, and find any information you can from the game and the characters you meet.

However, the truth is not always clear as characters will always put their own agenda first, and discovering the truth is just as much a challenge as the gameplay and just as much of a reward.

Set in a futuristic fantasy world collapsing in a cosmic event, the game puts players in the role of a living weapon whose goal is to bring an end to the cataclysm. He is unwillingly unchained and released by the warden, and told only that his skills are required to save the world. With no memory of who you are or what you do, you must set off and discover what you can from the game world and characters.

Mobility, attack direction, and well-timed doges all play an important role in survival as you encounter enemies. It is described as “far from a reflex shooter” and ‘not an easy game.’ When you die, you are restored by the Monolith, who oversees the flow of the Cosmos, and your bounty is left where you were defeated.

The Cosmos consists of many worlds, some of which you will visit in the game. All worlds are connected via a network known as the Stream. By exploring the Stream and collecting clues, gear, and rewards, you will become a strong enough weapon to save the Cosmos.

As for why it is you who has to save the Cosmos, that is something you will uncover as you play. Toadman Interactive teases “a lot of untold stories about the world hidden below the surface.” The story is written by a narrative team consisting of Anne Toole (The Witcher) and Adrian Vershinin (Killzone: Shadow Fall and Battlefield 1).

Gave it a shot.

About as fun as paying money to have someone kick you in the balls. I imagine those are exactly the type of people that play these kinds of games.

Really? Because in order to switch load-outs, distribute stat points (basically level), or save your game you've gotta use one of those red obelisks. Using it respawns everything. Hell, you can't even AFK to take a piss, as hitting escape keeps the game (and timer) running.

I played it for an hour and bore quit. I like the setting, it somewhat reminds me of 'Too Human', but the gameplay is boring.

Played 2 hours so far. Basically DS with guns; execution seems above-average but not DS-level - something akin to The Surge in terms of technical quality and controls. Still holds my attention and seems much better executed than another game I tried today, Shadows Awakening.

Don't like "souls-like" games at all, but since Tomb Raider arrives next week I decided to give this a try and ended up finsihing it...not because it's good but because I felt like shooting stuff. Laughing

It kept dragging on and was hoping it would end halfway through, backtracking to the same locations to locate something different didn't help.
Ended up using auto-shotgun since it got me through this faster, all the other weapons felt like useless peashooters in comparison.

Wouldn't have played this if I wasn't bored. Laughing

What's wrong with bosses dealing ridiculous damage? Ravage Commander, or whatever his name, can hit me with his halberd for 90-95% of my total HP.

Another thing..Knocking down attacks used one after another without any chance of getting out of this stunlock and not getting hit the second time need to go.
