I haven't followed this whole affair, but did he actually lied (as in Todd Howard who releases a game and then forgets about it except minor patching, and further relies on the mod community), or did he just promised a bunch of stuff which weren't there on release but it was clear the game will get updated over time?

He was no better than Todd in that regard perhaps. But sure, the idea according to himself was always to continue to work on the game and add stuff. The idea now is to do weekly smaller updates + larger updates once in a while. You'd never have something like that coming from Bethesda, they spend that time on paid DLC's.
No Man's Sky 1.0 was nothing but a rather poor alpha, a "skeleton" of a game really. In many ways it still is. But if they continue like this for 2-4 years i bet NMS could be something quite remarkable. The scoop of this game is way beyond something you can accomplish in a few years time, i think they were well aware but they also needed funds and perhaps had some deal with Sony to release at a certain date, there was no way to push it to a later release.
Still, his own fault for lying and overexaggerating like hell, but the fact is, it did sell a lot of copies and thus they can continue to work on the game.
The best thing about the update is the redemption factor. They worked on it for a few years and improved it, better than giving up on it and taking the hit and the shame.
Lesson learned i hope. Gonna try it now after all the praise.
I've played this for a while and honestly I really like it. It's a pretty new thing for me since I don't really play games that have the systems this has, but I always wanted to get into a space exploration game and this seemed easier to get into. I did not play it at launch because I saw others play it and it didn't really make me want to touch it. Seems like a much more fleshed out game now. They clearly rushed it out, but they do seem to actually love their game with how much they updated it and still plan to apparently.
Got my hands on this ship, class B with 28 slots (+5 in tech) and it looks freaking awesome:
I really like the ship designs in general in this game, love sitting on the station just seeing what ships the NPCs that land have, heh.
Oh... question: what does the class of the ship actually mean? I've seen a bunch of class A ships that were both cheaper and weaker than the one I got.

"There are five types of starships: Shuttle, Fighter, Hauler, Explorer, and Exotic. Among these archetypes are four letter-grade classes: C, B, A, and S.
C-class ships have the fewest inventory spaces, and if there is a class bonus, it will be no more than 20%.
B-class ships take up the three inventory sizes below the maximum of the tier size, and they have a 20% or more class bonus.
A-class will have either the maximum number of slots or one slot less than max, and has a 35% or more class bonus.
S-class ships will always have the highest amount of inventory space for its tier size, as well as a 50% or more class bonus."
The exotic ones looks really cool, would love myself one of those squid ships I currently have 3 ships, i think the largest have 27 slots. Haven't had too much luck in the design of them.
Hmm, thanks for explaining. I wasn't even aware they were split into classes as well, nor of the class bonus. I think I happened to stumble across a top tier B-class ship. It's the best I've seen so far overall and the only one of that model.
All that being said, I only did my first hyperdrive jump. Felt good, heh!
The item storage is becoming a bit frustrating for me but I’m a hoarder and I don’t have the storage container blue print yet.
Edit:
I even resorted to using a save editor to move suit technology to the appropriate inventory stack but failed to realize running it sandboxed wouldn’t actually change the file. Lol

That's not an accurate cartoon... he'd walk out 5 minutes later after finding a note from his friends saying '...don't bother - nothing's changed. Gone to play Fortnite.'

Does anyone know where this 'brandplum pollen' comes from? It's worth around 2 million, and it occasionally appears in my inventory
It seems to appear sometimes when I use the refinery to convert the metallic junk you find when opening crates. Is this the reason?
There must have been a door there in the wall, when I came in.
Truly gone fishing.
Hey, DarkRohirrim, why are your character wearing a birdhouse on it's head?
Plot twist: my character is the birdhouse! And it's because I like weird things like that when it comes to character design. I wish we could make characters even less human honestly.

So, my frigate gets damaged on a mission. I try to repair it but only 3 of the 4 damaged systems show up... OK, whatever send it out on a another mission (what else am I supposed to do?) and it gets completely destroyed. Whelp, no more frigate. I go do some other stuff, come back to my freighter and my supposedly blowed up frigate is back!?

No one? It's not the metallic junk, at least, and I think I get it only when on the freighter.
