It’s a shame there are no analog keyboards, like the Sony buttons on their controllers. You don’t need much precision to walk slower or faster, but would infinitely better than walk/run options typically present in FPS games. Splinter Cell dealt with it elegantly, but it was a very specific solution, not fitting a general usecase.

This is just laziness on the part of developers. Splinter Cell had this issue sorted 13 years ago for KB + M and it felt great. I use a gamepad all the time, so I don't really get the big argument considering how much choice we have, but there are loads of things that work with KB + M that developers just don't implement anymore.

It's a needed mechanic in that game, that's why they added it. And people just don't use a keyboard all the time, I play with M/K in Battlefield, would play Fortnite with that and use it in shooters as well where aiming is important.

But I don't see the need for M/K in games like GTA V, when playing the Story, Racing games, or FIFA, where you cripple yourself by using a worse input device.

You need good MKB controls for this game because combat is about accuracy and you should never lock on.

j/k tbh it's a matter of preferences and some input devices are much better suited fora specific genre.

What about for example games like street fighter etc?

It usually isn't and I've had no trouble aiming even with the gamepad in Freemode (I used to have (or might still have) a K/D of 1.6), and I specifically said STORY/SINGLEPLAYER.

Dude, I'm level 120 in GTA Online and have clocked 8 days, 17 hours and 15 minutes in this mode alone... I'm probably the last person you should be telling anything about the game Laughing

I said this game. As in I'm talking about Monster Hunter World. A game which prides itself in how you can't just mash to win but must be accurate with your timing and strikes.

Yeah, as long as it's done well. Would really have loved to play this game with a KBM but I always kinda figured the port wouldn't be good. And I already spent 120 dollars for two copies on the PS4 so I can't justify getting it again unless they fix things.

A gamepad will be far superior to a mouse for movement, e.g being able to seamlessly control your movement speed with the analog controls. A mouse/keyb can't do that. They can vary your speed by presses on different buttons (sneak/slow, walk, run), but its not the same thing at all. In third person games this matters a lot, but especially so for games with platforming.

Haven't tried this game so mouse/keyb might be fine here though, but in general third person games are made for gamepads in mind. First person games are terrible with gamepads though, playable but not my preference when i have the choice.. mouse/keyb has better aim, the rest is worse, especially it's never as ergonomic as holding a controller.

If you use the bow, LBG or HBG then you're going to outdo gamepad users a lot. Especially bow is particularly potent with a mouse (despite the issue it currently has). I don't believe for a second that a gamepad user can perform as well as a mouse user with ranged weapons in this game unless they've memorized every single attack pattern a monster uses and can predict exactly where to aim and position themselves each time.

A mouse is just going to be better.

I played this on the ps4 using a bow, it's really the easiest weapon to aim on there. The ranged attacks usually penetrate multiple times through a monster's body so the controller does the job sufficiently apt, and headshots aren't all that required aside from once or twice to knock off a horn.

This can be fixed easily by adding the speed to the scroll to gradually increase it or decrease it as you want. On the other hand, you can't replicate the precision of mouse with the controller.

Sure, but usually this is never ported over to keyb/mouse.. If you're lucky you get a button for run Wink also its not optimal... taking your finger off the "trigger" to wary your movement speed.

There you have it, we finally got there. The problem is the porting. Don't know why it took us much. Very Happy

You are using the mouse wrong if you need the trigger finger to use the scroll...

What the hell are you supposed to use it with? Your middle finger? That's extremely odd.

You had any arguments? I must have missed them.

This is how you make the most use out a mouse, especially for action games/shooters:

yes, this you are doing now is a reply, to an argument.

As for the pic, congrats, you're one of the 0.1% who uses a mouse with 3 fingers on top, but more likely; you don't use your mouse like that.

It's really that rare/weird to hold it like that? Wut?
What kind of retarded attitude is that. Laughing

I use both 2 finger and 3 finger methods though. Depends on the game/thing I'm doing.

@Morphineus Well it is the least used way, since we're talking about actual in game mouse usage, I doubt anyone plays with 3 fingers on top. And we're not talking about preferences, he literally said:

Well the irony speaks for itself, doesn't it. I knew it, the most uncomfortable way to play and use a mouse, and you want to tell me you'd use that in a game like Battlefield/COD or else, try proper aiming with that shite and whoever that is, seriously needs to shave the hair on his fingers, disgusting.
