Look at your steam list. I'm sure you haven't played 10% of all those games you've bought. |
Steam is bloated with games.
I'm pretty sure average player is not interested in about 2/3 of it's catalogue anyway.
I do like that there are at least some non-EA games also.

These fucking companies always take the absolute worst actions before EU or something grabs them by the neck.

what? i mean yea it's shitty for people who want to save money, but this had to happen sooner or later. im actually suprised it took ea this long to do something about it.
i mean how many years have past since we got cheap games from mexico and so on?
for russians who want their game on english it's better this way. thats probably why the enabled english in the first place now for russians, since they will ban/remove people from other countries who try to buy it in cheaper regions.
even back then when i bought games from origin mexico i was always waiting for a ban.
on steam there is a little loophole so you can get games from india and other regions cheaper, but sooner or later, when more people will do it, they will do something about it too. just a matter of time.
those are companies. only money counts and if people try to fool them like this, they will lose a lot of money.
what should the EU do about this? it's totally understandable even for me who bought more then enough games with those kind of tricks.

Meanwhile on Origin they give for free 3 DLC's
BF1: Apocalypse
BF4: China Rising
BF4: Naval Strike
As for the ban...Until now, EA was fine with you buying via VPN. It was frowned upon, but it wasn't a reason for ban.Seems that the policy has changed.

Since EA killed On The House officially I wonder if this Battlefield DLC will be some of the last freebies they do as they probably just want to get people to buy the premium service now for that sort of stuff.

Premium service is not really cheaper since it's a subscription. When you realize PS+ costs €50 a year for WAY more games than what you get with EA ... If you can't wait for prices to drop, I guess it's not too bad but I spend less than €100 on EA games every year and I own nearly all the games you get in that basic subscription. Also, Sims 4 doesn't have all DLC.

PS+ gives crappy/old games which are usually $5 during a sale. Here you are getting new games before launch and get to keep for a year. And since EA releases sports games yearly, most will renew and keep the subscription on.
For FIFA users it's nice along with some BF and upcoming Anthem. FIFA UE alone costs $100 if purchased separately.
The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.

Pretty much this. We know EA will release their sports games every year, so getting their latest offering alone is worth the 99/yr pricetag. Along with additional EA game they release like BF or something, it's a pretty decent deal.

Imo EA doing the Origin pass, banning VPNs and disabling their onthehouse program might be an indication that they arent doing so well anymore.
I stopped buying EA games a long time ago even though back in the day i wouldn't miss a siingle Nfs game would buy all the mass effect games etc.
is EA profitable? yes but why?
Imo because they have their card packs in fifa etc. So basically they profit on their lootboxes and cardpacks mostly but seems like that bites them in the ass since some countries ban those and the media slowly tries to cover thats hit.

Fuckers just permabanned my account worth hundreds of Euros because of some chargebacks for their Access service several months ago. Never got an email from them about those chargebacks and because the account was tied to a secondary bank account which I don't check regularly, I just found out about it. Iinstead of canceling Access, which I guess would have been fair, they ban the whole account. Fuck them so much.

why keep customers if you can ban them?
I somehow doubt that Ea's own platform is nearly as profitable as theyw ere when their games were sold on steam(if we dont consider microtransaction bs)
In long term they ll suffer because of behaviour like this.
P.s.: Did you try to conttact their support and make them unban you?

contact them, not via chat but email and ask them what to do.
im pretty sure you can transfer them the money and your account will be unbanned again.
no access or permban the account until every thing is paid isn't that much of a difference.
it's just weird that you haven't got any emails. for what ever reason

I contacted them via chat yesterday and got an email today, saying they would not lift the ban. I will try to email them back. Found some people with similar problems on their "Answers HQ" forums, seems they had a ban wave or something.

I will try that but I'm not sure it will help. Contacted them via email and wanted to know about the amount of money I owe them and why they didn't contact me beforehand, got a standardized mail back with a link to their TOS (which don't say anything about chargeback) and that they had checked my account for the second time and would stand by their decision. So I wrote them again, demanding at least an answer to the questions I had asked, got another mail back 5 minutes later that their decision was final and they would not answer to further mails from me.
I am done with them for good. Luckily, I am not really interested in their upcoming titles, especially since they fucked up Mass Effect. I am just amazed at how bad their customer service is and that they think it's a good business decision to ban a customer that has spent several hundred euros in their store about chargebacks worth a few bucks, that I offered to reimburse them for.

Two or three I guess. They wouldn't tell me. Going from my bank accounts history there has been no chargeback, but it only show the last 6 months.

its still no fact it happened due to a chargeback isnt it? and as i said many people were affected by the banwave. most of them i read about were able to get their accounts back within two days after contacting the support (not via email or live chat, that went to nothing like in your case)

I'm surprised they responded to the additional emails at all shitty behavior as it is for them to handle customer support like that but chargebacks is like a giant middle finger isn't it compared to working via refunding through the service itself and instead bypassing it entirely and going by the bank or payment provider to force the issue.
Pretty sure Valve, Uplay and Origin all ban if they detect a user going this route to get money back although how well they point this out in their terms of service probably varies.

To clarify the chargeback (not even sure it is the right term, english isn't my first language): we are talking about the 4$ per month for Origin Access which I registered for more than a year ago. It should have been deducted from my bank account but apparently there was not enough money on it at the time they tried, two or three times out of the 15-20 payments for it.
I used a secondary online banking account, not my normal bank account, which is why I never registered failed payments and since EA didn't bother to notify me and never cancelled the membership I had no idea until the account was banned. Like I said, I can see that the money was deducted without problems in the past 6 months, so the failed payments have to have happened before that.
