This sums up my original Tomb Raider experience.
Can't remember how many times I enjoyed keep doing these moves rather than playing the damn thing Laughing

The combination between the level design and the movement system in the old games, to me, was sublime. Yes, there was clunkiness to the games as well, but it didn't really bother me. The platforming was somewhat complex compared to what platforming is in any game nowadays and because of that the games didn't have to rely on constant combat for the challenge. Just navigating the levels felt really rewarding to me.

It's a psychological trait known as post-purchase rationalization. Basically, it means that you are more likely to say positive things about something once you've bought it - even if it's not good - just to feel better about your decision to buy it. The more expensive the item, the more you rationalize it. If you want an example of this psychology in full swing, just hop over to the Star Citizen forums. Very Happy

That's why I'll always weigh the review of someone who's yarred a game as far more honest and truthful over someone who has put down full price on release day for it.

Steam reviews = completely meaningless.

Hmm maybe but as well as that "post-purchase rationalization" there is also 'junkie syndrome' which drives much brand loyalty. JS isn't dependent on purchase as much as it is a rationalization for investing time and energy in something. Heroin addicts used to love turning on their friends just because when others around them emulated their behaviours they were buttressed against any internal self-doubt.
The old pc-mac 'wars' were heavily influenced by this.
Who gives a toss what OS someone else uses, they are all bloated exercises in corporate money grubbing yet people could become incensed by the thought of another person, someone they likely didn't even know, using different shit software to the one they did because it caused them to doubt the validity of their own decision.
Anyone who yarrs the latest lana croft flashes her tits in a non-exploitative way and then plays it for a few hours is as susceptible to over-rating it as someone who buys the thing.
Anyway that it my rationalisation for waiting for the yarr.

Interesting view. I wonder how people would review Lara if they could pay to play with her. In an arcade I mean Laughing Arcade games used to be looked upon differently I noticed, I mean some games with repetitive and quite frankly boring gameplay somehow turned out to be top money makers back in the day - but spend £50 on a similar title and I wonder how the view changes...

Dear god, this looks awful. I've now seen many vids, reviews (paid and otherwise) and it's designed for 14 yr olds XBox kids. Simple as that. And it will sell, because she has tits. Either so said 14 yr olds can enjoy staring at her ass, or feminist women can feel empowered that the only people in the game portrayed as strong and independent ARE women. SJW's win this round it seems...

I hope that's the last we see of her. (yeah right...)

Yep, it's just a console game for kids/casuals which also happens to run on PC.

More importantly though it no doubt has the female tick of approval.
