And DAMN...I have been rooting for Sparta all my life up to now, but they were some really evil and mean people. The males at least. I am looking forward to killing 'The Wolf' (no spoilers here ) right now...
I can't buy this, mainly for the same reason I won't by Forza 4 - it's a ridiculous price, for only 2/3rds of the game - and then they ask you to pay at LEAST another 15% of the base price to get resources you need to really enjoy the game... it's fucking disgusting.
At least Origins you didn't NEED to buy stuff to progress without 20 years of grind. Here, from what I can see, you either pay MORE, or you grind for an unrealistic number of hours.
And yeah.. Mack disappointed me this time.

Is that really true that you have to grind alot? Even for the normal things?
About an hour or so for each level on average although personal progression might be faster or slower and later in the game the easier sync points and discovery boosts might not yield as much for leveling up fast compared to finding and solving side quests.
At least the game is quite pretty to look at while you drag on towards the next level.
Spoiler:
And then you see the finishing animations.
(NSFW? Probably NSFW even if as unintended as player climbing and photo-sharing that one part of the big statue. Because of course that wasn't going to be a big thing immediately. )
Spoiler:
EDIT: Well silliness and cruelty aside I'm enjoying it so far, still only very early game though so we'll see if it lasts for 100% completion.
(Another #@$ island! )
I managed to get a copy for virtually no money, thanks to a 'friend', so I am playing it now. OR at least I would be if the CPU usage thanks to FUCKING Denuvo wasn't so insanely high. Even on the TITLE SCREEN the CPU is running at 60%, and when using their own benchmark, the CPU is clearly struggling to maintain a solid rate while dealing with what I can only assume are a SHIT ton of trigger checks.
60%! On the title screen. 99% during play, naturally, but I am fairly convinced my 4790k is struggling with the incessant DRM shit.
I paid less than £10 for this, and I think I'm glad about that. Game isn't bad mind, but those microtransactions are always looming, like a dark shadow...

why pay for xp boost microtransactions when you can get a trainer to make it a x100 xp multiplier and finally make the grind reasonable? After you pirate the game of course.

I also have an 4790k at what settings do you play?
Don't really see the point of the microtransactions, as from what I understand what you buy is scaled at your level so you'll end up with better items in an hour of play unless you decide to upgrade the thing.
I guess if you want to look good then microtransactions are the way to go.
I don't really care for looks and I'm more about stats so I am one ugly mismatched armor wearing Hellene.
Combat is getting pretty tedious because everyone is a sword sponge so combat stays the same with scaled enemies you run into.
I just use an axe now to make combat go by quicker. Instead of going sword sponge, they could have just kept damage high so you die in a couple of sword hits and so does the enemy.
I mean it's not like combat is hard. Just parry when they spark, and then roll away when they go red. The end.
How much different is this compared to Origins? It all looks very, very similar. I bought Origins (and enjoyed it), but if this is just more of the same, I don't see any need.

did only first few hours but i would say its much less junky and they doubled down on the RPG features (with TW3 as main inspiration) also exploration mode is way to go
On the surface, it looks like Origins 2.0, however, after 5 hours of play I can safely say this is sufficiently different to be classed as a much better game.
Combat is VASTLY improved, with easy to use basic moves, but with the need for some proper skill to use the dodge and parry moves effectively - especially if you turn off the indicator flashes for enemy unblockable moves. The dodge isn't another Witcher 3 invuln-roll, you can still be hit if you don't time it, you also get a longer dodge which while it does have a roll, it's cumbersome and won't just be spammable - which is great.
I think the issue is still going to be grinding, and while so far the number of side missions is RIDICULOUS - I just see mission after mission by walking around, and those you don't just find are always available on the various message boards scattered around, so you're never goin to be stuck on what to do next.
The scaling of equipment is something I'm unable to comment on personally. Sure, the base stats will scale. However it's the extra stuff that is probably going to be most important later on - the additional crits and specific attribute enhancements, I have a feeling in just plain standard armour at the right level, you're going to seriously struggle against the bigger bosses. But we'll see of course.
Ship battles, I miss cannons.
Overall... I can probably see why this was given such a high rating, and possibly why Mack overlooked the microshite in his WAB review - it's still a good game, even if the abilities look to be insanely overpowered; either you need a lot of these in the later game, or you could play without some of them - which I would prefer - because some of them just sound way too powerful.
The crafting I've yet to get into - mainly because I don't have close the number of needed resources, and I think this is the biggest problem in the game. In order to upgrade your weapons, armour and ship you need a FUCK ton of resources for EACH item. I can definitely say that Ubicunt has deliberately done this to 'persuade' you to part with even MORE cash on top of the base price, and it sucks tbh.
It STILL feels like a lot of the content has been shoved together to make the game look and feel longer, and sometimes the quests and their stories simply don't make a great deal of sense, but overall, it is (IMO) easily more fun to play, and probably easier too, than Origins.
Is it worth the full asking price? I dunno - I certainly wouldn't have paid it. (saying that, GMG are selling it for £42 which is about the cheapest I've seen)

No worries with item quality. You get tons of legendary items by dealing with the mercenaries and following the story.
You get more from doing those big battle quests, but fort raids are getting tedious as well lol. That bit is just so AC.
I also haven't bothered upgrading stuff or doing that emblazon thing or whatever at the blacksmith because I figure it'd be a waste for items that will be quickly replaced with stronger newer gear.
Also it has that dumb Ubisoft thing where you have to hold down X or the mouse button to buy or sell items. Takes forever to get rid of junk gear.
Game needs more lighthearted moments. Even if it was kinda dumb, I enjoyed this guy because of the drought in the game.
Oh...and guys...don't waste too many res on upgrading ur items, there is much cool stuff to come to replace ur current one. Level up the ship first...and make sure you get the Healing-skill, escpecially while playing at 'hard'-diff.
I tried to kill the legendary boar without the skill on hard and I gave up after 10 tries. Just a good example of bad balance in the game. I dogded pefectly, but you cannot evade all the piglets.
With that Healing-skill it's possible, but I barely survived.
Just discovered the Cult...I love to 'clean' the map first before progessing with the story. At least the regions I have already been to. So much more to do...I just wish you could play this in Co-Op mode...would be epic.
Anyway I paid 59,99 -20% and I spend much more than that on Friday nights out. This will keep me entertained for hours while waiting for Novembers' games. GG Ubisoft, now give us AC: German Middle Ages. Knights, Castles, Basebuilding stuff, the Pope and whatnot.
Or AC: 30-Years-War.
I will prolly play it anyway, no matter the scenario. But pls no 'asian' stuff.
