https://comicbook.com/marvel/2018/09/28/venom-r-rating-pg-13-why-violence-language/

Quote:
Despite what some fans might start to believe as rumors swirl across social media and in corners of Reddit threads, there never was and never will be a version of the film which contained heavy amounts of graphic violence. "There isn't some phantom version of the movie," Tolmach explained. "Everyone is asking us that. Is there an R-rated cut sitting there? There isn't. We came into this production and the development of the movie wanting to make a movie that was true to Venom, true to the comics, and true to the character, but at the same time is a movie that 13-year-olds, 14-year-olds can see. We had to push right up against it. We're 15+ in England. It's not like we just wanted to make a family film. We wanted to push it as hard as we could, but also to make it accessible. That was always the goal."

From director Ruben Fleischer, the message was the same, citing inspiration from one of the most renowned comic book movies in history. "We only ever talked about this movie as being PG13," Fleischer said. "What I've said in the past is that we wanted to push the violence to the hilt. The Dark Knight was always a huge reference point for me, personally, just as far as how far you could take a PG-13 because that movie they put a pen through a guy's forehead so I figure if you can do that in a PG-13 movie you can bite some heads off."

Ultimately, Fleischer stands by the film he crafted within PG-13 parameters. "I'm proud to say I think I accomplished, was to take it to the full limit," he said. "I feel like we don't compromise Venom in any real way. He's as aggressive as fans could possibly hope for, I think."

May the NFOrce be with you always.

One word: Sony.

I guess Homecoming turned out ok because of Marvel overseeing. No such luck here. But we'll see.

Lol there suppose to be a scene were symbiote makes out with Brock. And some reviews say that while the movie is trying to be a dark brooding comic book movie Tom Hardy is playing it as it's a comedy.

Now I have this weird feeling down there to watch this with interest.

EDIT: Anyway tickets bought on Friday. I hope my GF will regret forcing me to see it.

Soe progressive... Bang an alien!1

But after these morons removed the best parts about the character it isn't that unexpected that all that's left is just some bland shit.
I just hope marvel laughs in their face if they're expecting an appearance on other movies

BeyondTheTrailer Loved it.
Compared it to evil dead / darkman
Campy, absurd, fun.

Movie is getting mixed reactions.
Either people enjoy it or its a complete failure.

Strange.

Ghostbusters was just a failure treated as an enjoyable franchise reboot by the critics.

This one is mixed. Two reviews i watched enjoyed it.

No matter the bad reviews, people showed up for the film and it opened strongly. It will definitely break even, and probably make profit too.

https://deadline.com/2018/10/venom-a-star-is-born-weekend-box-office-lady-gaga-1202476614/

Quote:
Sony can breathe a giant sigh of relief as their Marvel-verse Venom is absolutely working at the domestic box office with what is now estimated to be an $80M weekend after a $32.9M Friday, both quite easily October records besting Gravity‘s $55.7M opening weekend and Paranormal Activity 3‘s opening day of $26.3M. If Saturday holds at -15% or better for Friday, Venom can swing past $80M.

...

While Sony contends that the production cost was net $100M before P&A, we’ve heard that it’s around $116M with Georgia tax credits. Either way, it’s still cheap enough finance sources have informed us. If Venom launches to $150M-plus globally –that’s even if the film broke down stateside with a $55M-$60M opening–Venom would still be safe. We’re told that a $450M global take ultimately gets Venom to break-even during its theatrical release. China’s Tencent is reportedly covering around a third of the production cost, however, a China release for Venom has yet to be announced.

So Venom 2 coming next..

This movie is splendiferous but if someone makes a sequel I don't think Hardy will star in it.

well, i did like the movie..
it was very OK for what it was (pg13-i did expect worse)...The jokes are all fine, nothing stupid like in "The Pretadurp".
Its way way better...

i really liked Hardy, really good actor..

Dont wanna spoiler anything, so...Story is good, better then i thought, most stuff makes sense, with some insights on where and why Venom exists..
Acting is good and i watched it in one sitting, wich does mean something. haha...

Long story short, it was an enjoyable Movie...7 (maybe7,5) of 10....

It is a good movie to pass time and get out with friends, girlfriends etc..
Its far from masterpiece though...

There is no much to see right now, so it's one of the better options.

Very nice not-Marvel take on this Venom thing.

You of all people know that "signed for more movies" means jack shit.

Garfield was signed for more Spiderman, too.

Garfield sabotaged his chances for the 3rd to get out of it.
