They are only turning off object shadows and buildings. Characters and monsters will still have full shadows, and tree canopies will also cast shadows.
The screenshots on the official site are what the game currently looks like, that german mag must be full of shit if they said it was on max settings, it looks like ass in those shots and the gamma is pretty bad

I'm torn between upgrading my PC and getting a 360.
The thing is, I would love to be able to play oblivion while i'm in bed, and I could get a 360 for pretty cheap (£200 with everything) from a friend who bought a 360 but is disappointed with it.

Buying a 360 is just stupid. There is no guarantee there will come an working chip to it. And its not that great.

Xbox360 is much much better if you dont have a high-end PC. Look at those 360 titles, your $1000 PC will never handle that kind of graphic. And for sure, geforce 7800? or next gen graphic card will be look like that. The frame rate is key. You will probably get decent 15-30fps in PC. (even in the highest PC) But the console guarantees almost maximum fps for years IMO.

I got the minimum system (or just slightly higher). 2400+, 1GO ram, 9700.
Wich means I'm fucked, the game will run like shit, and I'd better start looking for money.
