So basically when i went to buy the 2080 from the store, the only PSU they had in the showroom available to buy right away was the gigabyte g750h.

Normally i'd buy from seasonic or corsair (had the corsair tx v2 850w before) but i thought this was good enough.

Now checking today it seems gigabyte isnt that recommended compared to other brands when it comes to psus and im left wondering why. Are they bad? Should i be worried? Take it back and replace with another brand?

This is the model in question (also missing 2 protections compared to other brands (OCP and OTP). How important are those 2 protections?

Thanks guys.

Seems this model is made by CWT http://www.realhardtechx.com/index_archivos/Page1906.htm

Found this too as a review :

Can you explain a bit why its so crap though? I prolly wont be able to replace it til friday so if its so crap that i shouldnt turn on my pc or just that in time it might fail faster than other.

And the evga you linked, can’t find it in stock here in Romania.

Could buy the evga supernova p2 750w instead.
Or seasonic focus+ plat or seasonic prime ultra.

Eh, you should be okay with that PSU.
How come you think its crap?
Ok it doesn't have those 2 protections that you have said but thats it.

That PSU is not crap. It ain't the best, but there is nothing wrong with it. I've seen a lot worse, and even they still do. If you plan to overclock, then I'd go for a higher 'rail' capacity Wink

Wattage means very little, or rather, the least of your problems, as regards a PSU.

Which is the best?

550W 80A 12v

900W 40A 12v

Answer - The 550W, as it has the best 12v rail.

Now, the above is just an example Wink, and one should also consider a good 5v, 3v rail etc etc.

Forget about the fancy '100000W' on the box, and read the small print, aka, power delivery on each rail, along with what circuit protection the unit has.

It beggars belief that folk spend hundreds on good PC parts, just to throw in a 'sub-standard' PSU to run it all (scrimping), and expect that said piece of shit to hold it all together.

99% of all blue screens and game crashing scenarios, are related to devices not being supplied the correct power, more so when overclocking, and whether that power is also stable and smooth Smile

Well i’m mostly worried about power delivery , in case of fluctuations, so that the psu would die and protect my other components rather than frying everything.

Im left between the g3 and the Rmx. G3 went ‘tier 2’ acording to that tier list for psus from jonnyguru while rmx is tier 1 plus the rmx is more silent, almost the most silent out of all.

I know more w’s dont mean shit, i always like to have more available in case i wanna buy a more power hungry card or cpu etc.

I'd honestly go for the EVGA SuperNOVA 850 G2, I have 2 of them, awesome supplies, and come with a 10, yes, 10 year warranty! Wink, their ripple suppression is utter brilliant, amazing in fact, or something from the Corsair AX/HX range.

So switched for a rm750x, everything seems a ok, got some new case fans as well, temps even lowered by another 7 or so degrees, 2080 ocd now is at 70 degrees in ac o max, cpu down to 58 degrees. Happy overall.
