didnt you watch the video?
its because of the DIE/CHIP size, height...its double the height wich does that to cooling..
After he grinded down teh height about 0.5 - 1mm? i think, it cooled way better..
He did explain it very well..
--->
just watch from 8.10mins on...and he will explain whats up there..

As this "news" could have an impact on the PC gaming landscape. I thought it is thread worthy.

For several years now SemiAccurate has been saying the the 10nm process as proposed by Intel would never be financially viable. Now we are hearing from trusted moles that the process is indeed dead and that is a good thing for Intel, if they had continued along their current path the disaster would have been untenable. Our moles are saying the deed has finally been done.

I know S|A has a not too positive reputation, but they have been right before. What does everyone think of this news?
9700k is a no brainer if you ask me..
i think in some tests the 8700k did beat the 9700k. Wich was because the 8700k had HT 6/12 cores and teh 9700k had 8/8 cores...
Im not shure how much games gain from hyperthreading. So this is something to think about..
But from the pricing standpoint i would take the 8700k and have more spare money on the table for an GPU, ora better cooling, or even watercooling..dunno, the 8700k seems like the better deal..
there was a video, where they talked about exactly that..
--->
and here was the Video wher eteh 8700k beats teh 9700k in some cases.. -> start at 1:50 and see for yourself..
lets say.. IF Games are to use 8 cores in teh next 2 years then i maybe, just maybe buying an 9700k.
But probaly not..
And i guess teh 8700k would be also Cooler? then the 9700k when OCing? that would be something i would also look out for..
But dont take my word for it, im still on an Potato machine with an 775 Socket

I dont think the difference between both CPUs OCed will be percievable besides benchmarks.

What a beast, pretty sure it's a sentient entity able to take off and fly back to the mothership when you least expect it. It even feeds on human blood
You should have bought the Noctua chromax fans instead of the normal chocolate milk colored ones for the upper radiator. For the rest: Nice and clean!

Was just about to post that, Zen 2 sounds fucking amazing, seems that AMD engineers have completely eliminated the memory bandwidth issues of previous Zen, this with increased IPC, it will be monster, wonder what intel response will be, overclocking xeon gold to 10ghz in space?. Intel will have once again very hard times ahead, Zen 2 will for sure close the IPC gap.
Zen 2 looks too good to be true. I wonder if they'll keep the affordable pricetags on these things.
If they perform as good as predicted, then maybe I'll get one and put the 1700X in the HTPC (and disable 2 cores).

Its pretty funny and ironic that Intel was bashing AMD when Thredripper released "glued processor", now their new top of the line server Cascade Lake CPU is 48 core, which has 2x 24 xeons glued together ... Its on 14nm process aswell, wonder what kind power hog / volcano it will be.
This shit with the prices is depressing me. I saved up over 2000€ to finally retire my current system... but I just can't bring myself to buy anything with these retarded prices. Just out of principle...
It's really all fucked and frustrating. SSDs getting cheaper and shit. Ram looks alot better now... but if I wait, it could all change again. CPU/GPUs going down and all the other stuff going up again and I'll sit there in the same situation....
I've never in all my life experienced this bullshit with hardware pricing. It's madness and pisses me off to no end. Especially because I have this feeling in the back of my head... like it's all price fixing / made up bullshit reasons...
Only GPU pricing though. CPUs are not that expensive and there are plenty of options. At least if you dont need the absolute high end CPUs.

So they just slapped solder on 7980XE and called it 9980XE, great stuff intel. it consumes more power stock than 32 core / 64 thread AMD Threadripper...
