This gen we don't get nearly as much stuff. Everything is safe, very expensive, AAAAA, microtransactions, lootboxes and a sequels...
Last Gen we at least had new games and series like Rdr, Gta(IV !!!) Gears, Alan Wake, The Darkness, Dead Rising, Lost planet, Mass Effect, Souls, Infamous, Uncharted, Oblivion, Bioshock, Skyrim, Arkham Asylum, Burnout, Fallout3, Fallut NV, Saint's row, Last of Us, Call of Duty single player was gloriously stupid fun... and many many many more. Impossible to list.
This gen games I really like? Bloodborne, infamous 2nd son, The Last Guardian (essentially last gen game), God of war, Arkham Knight, The Evil Within2, Prey, Uncharted 4 was ok, Hellblade, Witcher3, Re7, Doom.
We gen many more indie games now but I think there were more milestone, memorable indie games last gen. it is much harder now to be visible. Maybe the games are objectively better now and highs are higher. Obviously graphics are mind blowing but we don't get nearly enough stuff since it's so expensive to make and barely profitable in the era of online lootbox games.
Say what You want about Gears but it was a (very) quality game at the time which tried many new things and was universally praised. Just as many other games. Shit, I still replayed the trilogy this year and it's still an awesome stupid bunch of games. It's like Predator. You watch this and it's stupid, glorious, memorable and atmospheric. I still play many of those older games. |
Anyway - Trolling aside - Starting to have high hopes for this. It looks good. Preordered for friday!
